Sternum/breastbone pain and feeling lump in my throat. Please help!

Hello,

This would be my second post on this website. I hope to get some advice as I am not sure what is wrong with me! For the past week, I have been experiencing this really strange pain in the breastbone area. It is extremely uncomfortable and sometimes very sharp. I feel like a lump in my throat however, I can still swallow food and drink. But my main concern is this very uncomfortable pain in the breastbone area. I have been to the Dr but he was not exactly sure what it is. He said it could be acid and gave me medicine. I am not too sure if it is acid. I really hope this pain goes away. If someone have similar experience or could advice me something, I would be extremely grateful.

Yes, I agree, acid reflux, esophagitis. I also believe it sounds like it could be a hiatal hernia. thats what I have. Hiatal Hernias are awful. it has caused me such pain, acid, cant eat certain foods, etc. Sounds like you need a scope down your throat to really diagnose whats going on. If your Dr. gave you proton pump inhibitor, it takes a couple weeks, or more to heal the esophagus, stomach. If that med. is not working, you may have to change, or get prescription strength doses. I Agree, a bland diet for a few weeks, then gradually add spice, grease, back in to see if you can tolorate them. I cant eat anyof that kind of food still. you will learn, what you can and cant eat. maybe not milk, or wheat. and above all, STRESS trigers acid reflux.

Thank you so much everyone for the replies. I feel much better now. I was honestly too scared that it could be a heart problem due to the breastbone pain. It was scary for sure. But i will surely keep a balanced diet and see how the medicine goes. Dr has given me a Difflam Spray for the throat and Omeprazole for the acid. If these medicines do not work then I'll go back to the doctor. Thank you once again 😊

If the pain is around the bone area it may be costochondritis, which is inflammation of the cartilage in the ribcage.

What do you guys do for stress? I have the problem where I don't feel stressed/anxious, but I'm starting to think I am.

    Cheers.
