Steroid Inhalers and Thrush

Although it is minimised by the inhaler manufactures and vested interests I developed long lasting thrush from possible use of Beconase inhaler.this thrush is proving difficult to clear using mild propriety thrush medications(lozenges-oral liquids)at this time. When the inhaler was prescribed no indication was given-apart from the intsruction leaflet-that this might result. If it had then I would not have used the steroid inhaler. Its difficult to get information about this-how long it lasts, how to clear it.Does anyone else have any experience of this phenomonen or know about immunosuppressents and their effects?

    Hi

I have been using a steroid inhaler morning and evening and a relief inhaler three or four times a day for 11 years. I have had thrush three or four times and they have been when I haven't been able to wash out my mouth. It is extremely important to rinse your mouth thoroughly after using inhalers to help prevent thrush.

After my morning inhalers I brush my teeth, rinse my mouth and gargle two or three times and the same in the evening. After the lunchtime one I just rinse and gargle. If I am out I always carry some water so that if I have to use my inhalers I can go to the toilet and rinse my mouth out.

Hope this is of some help.
