Steroid injection for hip instead of hip replacement surgery ?

has anyone been offered a steroid injection for a hip problem instead of a hip replacement surgery ?

i am just wondering if its another delaying tactic on part of the surgeon to avoid operation or at least postpone it ?

would like to hear from you if you have had one , did it work or did you end up having surgery anyway ?

hope someone can help

thanks

I asked my GP about it and he shrugged and said I could go privately. I discovered that was pretty expensive. I have had one hip op and was never offered a steroid injection.

    Hi Christine,

I've heard of Drs putting a cortisone injection into a shoulder to see if it releases it from the pain, but not steroid.
