steroid ointment

Does anyone use a mid strength steroid ointment for maintenance? If so which one? I only have the white spots with no burning or itching yet? What level of steroid has gotten rid of your white spots? My GP is the only doctor I've found willing to help with this but he nor I are not sure what to try...I figured I didn't want to use clob if I didn't have to since all I have is the spots....thanks

Hi, I used the clobetasol ointment for the initial treatment every day for a month then gradually reducing to occasionally. At this point I found that if I left it off for several days I became sore and inflamed. At this point I was give Eumovate ointment which is a less powerful steroid this I now use most days and it keeps me reasonably in control. My feeling is that it would be good start to use the Clob to clear the spots and then change to the lower strength for control. I think that you do need to keep on top of it. For me I thought that it was under control but hadn't realized that I was quietly fusing! Not good. Good luck.

I used Clobestol for the initial month then every other day for a month until itching and soreness was under control. I now use a maintenance cream Betnovate. Used it every day for two weeks then every other day for two weeks. Doctor now says to use as and when required.

I agree with the other ladies. I would use it as the others have outlined. You need to get rid of the white patches asap. As has been said, even if there is no itching it could cause fusing. Also look at your diet , and try to avoid sugar.

I'm a circumcised male so as of now where the spots are there's nothing to fuse but I haven't tried anything but protopic because dermatologists won't listen to me...they think nothing is wrong...My GP didn't say that is was LS for sure but nobody wants to diagnose me so he said he's willing to let me use steroid ointment..not sure what to do ....already took gluten dairy and all added sugars out of my diet six weeks ago it hasn't helped

Don't want to scare you, but in LS the skin thickens and could theoretically start to close the opening. If you have read the ladies posts generally, we often have trouble with the Vaginal opening reducing and our urethra become enclosed by fusing causing difficulty passing urine. If you are lucky it may be different for you as you say but it helps to be aware. Sorry!

I use desonide ointment 0.05%. It’s one of the lowest strength prescription steroids. Because of that, it took a while to work, like a few months, but betamethasone, which is medium potency, made me swell and burn even worse. We don’t know if it was too strong for me or if I was allergic to something in the cream, but I didn’t want to try it in ointment form.
