No I have never because they diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia and supposedly it doesn't help with my situation. If anyone has experienced help with them let me know.

Hi Gone Girl;  no I havn't been presecribed Prednisone, either;  did your GP or a Rhuematologist prescribe the Prednisone?   It is an interesting trial,  and wonder if it would help?  How much/what strength and over how long a period?   There are some problems taking Prednisone (as there is with many drugs), and how long have you had Fibro for, and what other meds have you trialed? If it helps, and does the job, for "what exactly type of pain are you having in your muscles?"  as once again, there are so many types of pain (from the burning, tired, plain Sore, Cramps)????   It will be interesting....anything New, that works long-term, will be good to know?             Bron

I was researching copper braclets for pain has anyone Tryed them?

Also a friend told me about a TENS unit. Most insurance will cover it. Anyone heard of it or tried it?

      Hi Amy,

used a tens machine during labour but not for fibro.   I did not like it but have to say it does interrupt the pain but for me I didnt like the sensation. Might work for you though. Do you know of anyone with the machine just so you can have a go before you buy. Some doctors surgeries have them. That's where I first came across one.

My mom use to wear a copper bracelet it seemed to help her. Its something Ive not tried myself, but anything is worth a try. as for meds I cant take any as had bad reactions to all the medication mygp has tried me on. so I just use hot water bottles and take ibuprophen its trial error on so many things, as what may work for 1 person may not work for another. all you can do is keep trying different things to find out what suits you and what doesnt. take care gentle hugs

No - not personally although my other half has been prescribed it long term for giant cell artritis.   It has caused weight gain and he has to carry a special card stating the fact that he is on it.   Pretty heavy stuff really. Not something I would consider for my fibro but we are all different and all react differently to various drugs.  Would be interested to know if anyone on here has been prescribed it and how they got on.

I had Polymyalgia for 3 years of which the treatment is steriods

I have now developed Fibromyalgia of which steriods (predisalone) cannot be used as they have no effect

you should not be offered these     I am really surprised that you have!

    go back to the doctor

    Hi there gonegirl

I was given those tablets once to help with an allergic reaction, to something I'd eaten. My nasal and throat passages had swollen and I developed a serious rash .... the tablets relieved the swelling but the hospital only gave me 3 days supply. I do remember however that they made the rest of my body swellings go down too which was wonderful but they had little effect on the pain.

I've never heard of them being used for pain, well you find out so much new stuff on here.

    Best wishes to you GG

    Love Angie x

I have been on Predisone for about 2 months. I have had Fibro for 18 years, and 2 months ago, heath really deteriorated and I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia as well. Dr said Pred would not help the Fibro, just complicate it. But after a week I had my 1st 3 pain free days. Dr said it was possible feeling of  euphoria due to steroid. It didn't last. Fibro probs are returning, but Poly pains settled within 24 hours.
