I have taken prednisone for cough.

It gives you energy that makes you feel over the top and if you cannot go with it it just makes you excited.😇

I have just taken prednisone too and also, gives you energy and allows you to breathe. I had no problems and I was a little worried about taking it. I only took them for 5 days though. I've been advised by many that they can cause weight gain if on for a longer term or bloating. I took a general pms type of cramp pill for fatigue, bloating and headaches just in case. I was fine. I did feel a lot better after taking them and I'm glad I did. See how you are though before you drive or anything like that. Take Care...Feel better!!!!

Also, try and take it the morning. They can keep you up at night and cause insomnia. xo

It may not be wise to take a steroid inhaler if you are on anxiety meds, and/or have anxiety. Those inhalers jet me out, and why I dont use them. Make you hyper and your anxiety off the charts. Just be careful. I am sure my reaction to the inhaler is not every ones reaction, but my experience was not good.

im actually not taking any anxiety meds at the moment. but i probably will go back on them if my anxiety gets too unbearable. im so scared about the steroid. its prescribed to take 6 little tablets as a single dose and ive read that side effects are anxiety and other phyciatric effects. im scared to take them now so not sure what to do. its 5 mg though so really not sure

Yes, you are correct. They are not kidding, those steroids are no joke. But I cant sit here and tell you to go against your doctors orders, but does your doctor know about your anxiety problem ? And was he thinking of that when he prescribed the steroids ? I have not actually taken pills, so you may be okay, I just am familiar with the steroid inhalers that open your lungs and clear your airways. That particular type, does not agree with me. I have no idea what the pills will do, but if the doctor said to take them, he must know what he is doing, I mean thats what he is getting paid for and he is not supposed to do anything to hurt you, that being said, mistakes happen, so its really your call. I would not be scared, but i would be cautious and look for side affects after I took my first dose. Your call though, if you dont feel comfortable taking them, maybe there's something else he could give you ?

yeah he definetly knows about my anxiety. so im not too sure. i mean why would he give me them when he knows i suffer with anxiety. i really dont know what to do. the doseage is 5mg so maybe thats a small dose that wont cause anything. i have anxiety just thinkking about it

I say take the plunge and take them. 5mg (of just about anything) is not going to hurt you. If you feel weird after taking one, stop taking them. But I would give it a chance. Chances are you will be fine. Take a deep breath and just do it. If there are any problems after you take it, you can call your doctor and you will be justified in asking for something else. But you have to try it first, at least this way you know for sure.
