Steroids not taking the white patches away. Is it even working?

Posted , 6 users are following.

I don't seem to be having any symptoms other than somr mild burning on and off. However it's been almost 2 months using the steroid once a day and the white patches are still there. I'd say some areas have slightly faded - and when I say slightly I mean literally a tiny amount.

I'm also developing white patches on some the areas I'm not treating. Does this thing just keep spreading!? I'm going to my doctor this next week, hopefully he can give me some answers/reassurance. I'm so anxious about this sad

May I add that since using the steroids I look I'm about 100 years old down there because my skin is thin and wrinkled. I'll be using an estrogen cream eventually so I'm hoping that will strengthen the skin and make it look better. Is there any way I can make the skin look healthier? I tried good quality olive oil and that seemed to make it nice and pink. It just looks so terrible. I'm 22 so it's pretty distressing looking at yourself in the mirror when my vulva looks like this!

Yes, it may spread...but that does not mean it will. I also have it in my mouth and my lower legs...and have the awful itch along with it...but that only happens to a few of us unlucky ones.  Pure aloe vera gel is also very soothing. Coconut oil is healing. Baking soda baths, sitz baths or compresses also help. There are lots of ideas of things to try on this forum so look around and read other posts.  I don't do steroids and I control mine quite well...but then others may not be as fortunate.

Mine started to retreat or melt away when I started with the baking soda and coconut regiment.  Glob to keep LS at bay.

When I had the white patches it responded quickly to Clob, within a week I think.  Are you seeing a Vulva specialist? someone that is experienced with Lichen Schlerosus because many ladies have found their doctors to be baffled with this condition.

With regard to using the cream, are you using a small magnified shaving mirror to apply the cream in exactly the right spot, and only using a tiny pearl size amount.  Some ladies don't want to use the Clob, and I understand that, but my take on that is when you have a nasty flare up with white patches cropping up everywhere you need to use a steroid cream to initially make it go away, whether that is Clob or another different steroid cream, and then of course you can always try different alternative routes if you so wish.  By that I mean diet, there are lots of threads on this site discussing this..I am Gluten and Dairy free, I must say that compared to some ladies on here I am fortunate symptom wise, and  I do use the Clob cream but only once a week now for maintenance, and I am very careful with spraying water on my Vjay after urinating, and always making sure that I have some lubrication down there as well.

With regards to the appearance of your undercarriage, I think that it is not the cream that has made you look "100 years old down there" (you have only been using it for 2 months) but rather  the condition itself, it does that, whether it is on your undercarriage or on the inside cheeks of your mouth,

it takes on the appearance of  old white wrinkled tissue paper, and once you have got this flare under control it should look normal again.

Try not to stress if you can, as unfortunately stress effects this condition
