Sticky sore!

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have LS and LP and have now had a nasty sore for over six months.  I have been trying hard to get rid of it and am now, on the advice on my dermatologist, using dermavate every night for a month and then a milder steroid ointment for another month;  then alternate nights.  So far there has been no improvement and I am beginning to feel I will never get rid of it.  Can someone advise me, please!

    hi wendy

a whole body protocol is needed to address the problem of LS overall obviously ...such as a naturopath or chinese medecine practioner could help you with...but for localised issues Sky on here was using melukka honey with some success and for flare ups you might find virgin coconut oil to be of assistance..in addition to olive oil outside of flare ups to help moisturise. hope this helps and welcome to the site wendy...i'm sorry you've developed this autoimmune condition.

Oh, Wendy, that sounds so frustrating and uncomfortable. Have you always seen a dermatologist for this? I'd be inclined to ask my GP for a referral to a gynecologist. LP is inside the vagina, which possibly is more the gynae's territory. At least the dermatologist doesn't seem to be concerned that this sore is something worse...

The manuka honey that Marey mentioned has natural antibiotic qualities. If you're applying the Dermovate at night you could put the honey (only a tiny bit – it doesn't have to be goopy) on in the morning.

manuka...thanks morrell....gosh this brain fog. Good incentive to keep working at my bowel cleansing and re-populating!!

helloo how are you...i'm fine my bowels are good today....conversations of the future!!

My bowels are always excellent. Funny I remember good old Ann Landers (in the seventies) saying the expression "How are you?" was shortened from "How are your bowels?"

Thank you Marey and Morrell for your comments.  I originally went to see my gynocologist, who suggested I see a dermatologist.  She was talking about another biopsy, but perhaps she is waiting for things to improve!  I am worried, of course, that it might be cancer, which I presume is the worst scenario!

My other problem is slight incontinence (had a hysterectomy and rectal prolapse op.) so am never able to keep the dermovate on for more than 4 hours at a time, if that!

      oh dear

sorry to hear you had a hysterectomy....even in the worst case scenario cancer can be treated non-invasively so have confidence. To me it sounds like an LS flare-up but either way can you start working on your underlying health to strengthen yourself in between Consultant visits?

Red raspberry leaf and red clover would help with astringency and also there are exercises to tighten you pelvic muscles which would definitely help to strengthen  up your abdomen. Try self massage of the pelvic area too...

May I invite you to have a look around the LS site...there's lots of support here. You'd be welcome to join me on the 'causes of LS' for example where we explore theories over this longish term condition with a view to understanding and strategising!

      Very best wishes

hi Wendy.Iwill be interested to see if you get rid of this. I've had LS for over a decade and had LP before it. Therehas always been a red patch just inside the vulval opening on one side, probably about the size of a ten pence piece, maybe a little smaller. It is either tender, sore or raw sore . When it's the worst I bathe and dry and smear vaseline over to give it some protection from urine passing over it and give it a chance to go back to being normal , for me, red patch again. I wish you luck with it. x

Thanks Joodie.  It helps to know I am not the only one, but I do so wish I could get rid of it once and for all. xx
