Stiff tension neck pain due to peri. Anyone have this? Have you found anything that's helped?

Hi Ladies, so I'm not right yet but, slowly feeling slightly better. My neck is so stiff and I feel extreme tension in it. I feel like my concentration and eye sight problems are due to this symptom. Each time I get my cycle I feel some relief so, I know it's hormones causing this but, the neck pain has been constant since peri symptoms hit. Has anyone had this ? Have you tried anything that's worked for relief? I'm sleeping the entire night now with an ice pack behind my neck and find that helps along with standing in the shower for some time each day. At my wits end with this. I'm also, not on a day shift like normal. I start to feel better late at night and I'm up all night until the morning and then I go to sleep at like 9 am till 2 in the afternoon!! I was prescribed a muscle relaxer from my primary a while back but, that didn't work. Thanks so much! Hormones!!!

hi, yes I had the worst neck leading into peri and did dry needling which really helped.

i then progressed to botox injections from a pain specialist which were amazing and made all the difference.

    worth trying

Thank you for your reply. I heard about the botox injections but, no the dry needling. Does that hurt?

I do get them too, its like a tension and heavy feeling in my neck and shoulders. It can be painful when i massage mine. What helps is i use a Tens machine on that area. Bought mine online. It does stop the pain and pressure. Acupuncture is also very helpful.

Thanks Kadja for replying. Yes, both are worth a try. I went to a chiro for several months. Helped somewhat to break up the pain but, not relieve it totally. I might look into the Acupuncture. When did you start seeing results? How many sessions did it take?

3sessions. It did help, however i think its something to do with hormones as it can return anytime and also disappear anytime.

So sorry to hear you too Sunaina. It's so horrible. I'm 2 months shy of 2 years dealing with this. I don't want to take HRT it's a hit or miss it will help but, I'm trying to barrel through it without it. I'm going to wait a little longer. Just went off a horrible med for anxiety. I feel much better but, it did help to initially calm me down and it was the only one. I don't like how I feel on them. I slept with an ice pack on my neck all night last night. That sometimes helps with relief or a warm shower. I'm hanging in there with you. xo Jeni
