Still a mess!

I had unprotected sex 3 weeks ago yesterday. The man sent me a screenshot of his test results which were negative for HIV. The test was an antigen test.

So far, I have a white coated tounge. Saturday I wore 2 hair ties on my wrist which made my arm go numb from the circulation. Yesterday I noticed I had what felt like muscle pain in my arm all the way into my hand. I also bowl on a leauge so don't know if the pain came from bowling, the hair tie, or a symptom of an STD. I also woke up with pain in my jaw. Maybe from clenched jaws at night due to stress?

No sore throat, although I do have phlegm. No fever. No headaches. No rash.

But I did notice a little light headlines after looking at my phone to long, maybe?

I've been stressing over this non stop since I had the unprotected sex. I feel morally convicted even tho it wasn't consensual.

Am I overreacting or being reasonable ?

Please share your thoughts.

You could have all those symptoms just cos you’re stressed.  Stress can lower your immune system.  Honestly I had a similar experience waiting for my test results for HIV.  Altho I knew I was fine and I trusted the guy I had unprotected sex with.  I felt sick.  Generally unwell etc. And couldn’t stomach eating.   When I got the all clear I was fine and chilled right out.   I think you need to get yourself tested.  You shouldn’t base the other Persons sexual health status on yours.  I’m sure you will be fine. But honestly the only way to be sure is to be tested.   And honestly I don’t think you can diagnose HIV just on symptoms. As some don’t experience any.  And they’re so generic.

Thank you for your reply! I think that's why I'm still freaking out even after seeing his results, because I don't trust them .. not that I think he's lying. But because what if he had an exposure after the test he took. Mind you the test he took was a week before I had my encounter with him. I have so much of an anxiety about it that I can't even feel a minor ache without thinking it's a symptom. I have a 4 week test coming up Monday. Hopefully that will give me a piece of mind!

I think the antigen test is usually pretty accurate  2 weeks after exposure. I believe the antibody test takes longer (4 weeks then retest at 3 months) as some may take longer to produce the antibodies. The clinic I visited does a combined test.  I had one 2 weeks after. Then realised it wouldn’t have been conclusive and as I was visiting the clinic anyway for birth control removal. I got retested.  It’s always good to have regular tests anyway.  At least once a year.   But I’m pretty sure the chances of getting HIV in a one off encounter are actually pretty low.   It’s harder to catch than we think.  So try and relax a little. I know it’s easier said than done.  But im sure you’ll be fine!  Hope everything turns out ok!

I heard those are pretty accurate 2-4 weeks.

I have my appt Monday which will make 4 weeks. It's been such a stressful month for me. I literally think about this all day, everyday. I'm constantly checking my body for any changes.

I've most def learned my lesson!
