Still can't sleep 13 months after hip replacement what to do

Hello everyone. This may sound a bit confusing because of the different dates and operations. I had posterior hip replacement on my right hip November 28th in 2016. November 21st 2017 I had left hip replacement. It has been 13 months for my right hip and 8 weeks since I had my left hip done. Both are posterior hip surgeries. I'm trying to get back into bed on my right hip that was replaced in 2016. But I'm still having discomfort. Just tried today for the first time to get into bed and take a nap. No luck. Just saw my surgeon had X-rays for my left hip which was done in 2017. He said everything looked fine. I didn't mention about my right hip because it just crossed my mind today when I attempted to take a nap. Does anyone else have this issue after almost 13 months of surgery and not being able to sleep kind of dull pain very achy just not comfortable I got up I didn't know what else to do but come back to the recliner. not sure if I should use ice before going to bed or heat. I'm sorry to go on and on but this is very disturbing since I work all day I'm 55 In a sitting position. thank you again I appreciate the feedback.

Don't know if this will help. My TLHR was 14 months ago posterior also.Still not happy sleeping on left side and have managed to fall over and break my left wrist (which is beside the point anyway).
However I sleep really well on my right side by placing a special cushion between my legs so that the top hip is in line.
This worked for me after sleeping on back for 6 weeks have used the cushion ever since.
Now I can even manage a cushion to support the broken wrist as well.
Strategically placed cushions are awkward to get right if you are on your own,but I find them a great help once the right position is mastered.
Of course I only have one hip replacement.
Good luck
A good night's sleep is essential!
All the best

The challenge for me has been more sleep disorders since surgery, but I don’t think that’s anything physical — just retraining myself to sleep and trying to do so without taking medications.
Hope you find answers!

For what it’s worth, I had 4 shoulders 2 yrs ago and was on the shoulder forum and now I’m on this one as I am having a Lt THR on Feb 12. For a long time after surgery I couldn’t sleep well, with pain, scar discomfort, muscle issues. Couldn’t lay in my side, sheets. Inches up everywhere. Just as I got comfortable in bed I needed to move or get up to the bathroom and the sheets dragged on my scar and seemed to tie me up in a knot. Pain pills helped the pain but made me feel weird and were very constipating. Then I bought some satin PJs. I can hear the laughter from here but they really helped me move about the sheets easily and get in and out of bed. Now they are doing duty with my hip help moving around and get up easily. There is way less drag. I’m thinking I’ll try satin sheets too, and Pjs with slippery shorts, not pants as I have now. Thank you all for your contributions which got me through many sleepless nights, and to those still suffering I wish you comfort and encouragement to finally be free of pain. Take heart AMc1962 we are here with you.
