It just takes time at least 8 weeks. Benzos like diazapam and Ativan aren't the answer as you are at risk of dependency.

Are you seeing a psychologist ? They will explain what's going on and arm you with useful tips on dealing with your anxiety wink. Just hang in there, you will have some bad days and some great days too. But your Dr is right, you need to give it time to do it's thing, it's not going to change you brain chemistry over night or a week. In the mean time I'd go see a psychologist that specializes in anxiety disorders.

How long have you been on Sertraline?  I am scared of medications and when I first started I had the worst anxiety ever and didnt want to become dependant on Diazapam so I didnt take it. I want you to know that you are stronger then you think you are and its going to get better. I litterally felt like I was dying, you will get through this I promise you! Take long walks breathing in and out live in the moment look at the trees the clouds, clear your mind. You have got this! You will make it to the other side, and you will be so much stronger!

Hi Shauna, thank yoh for your kind words, yes I went for a walk yesterday for an hour. I felt Axiours and frightened but i I’ve over come it.

Ialso have Rheumatoid arthritis, so my Rhumotolist asked my doctor to give me 10mg Nortriptline as this will help me with pain and 😴.

However, at the moment i’ve got a weeke supply of Zopiclone 7.5 mg to help me until the Sertraline kicks in.

Just over two weeks i’ve been on Sertraline.

Once again thanks for giving me strength and courage to carry on.

      God bless you.

Blondey, think you have had some good advice from others. I don’t like being on antidepressants think they are messing with my body. I sometimes wish I’d never started taking them.

    Hi Blondey

That is exactly what my dr told me about my Dizapam!!  If I did not take it .. I am not sure I would get through these anxiety attacks . My depression is better .. but the anxiety is awful !   I only take 2.5 mg when I need it .  I just decreased my Zoloft from 125 to 100mg three  days ago and this anxiety is awful ! My hair has been falling out by the hand fulls . This has got to stop !
