was diagnosed a few years ago.  Have a flutter valve, and hang inverted to help clear mucus.  Tried Advair, but saw no difference.  Seem to have an excerbation every 6-12 months.  Is the typical of others experiences?

Hi Gary, keeping the mucus thin has helped me, I have used Homeopathic medicine for years, especially antimonium tart 30c and quebracho 30c which has helped a lot and a product which I actually get from Germany, I am in the USA, called ACC akut 600 twice a day is very good, at last for me. I also take herbal medicine to keep my lungs clear. All this has worked for years, recently one of my inhalers Spiriva has caused me uri nary retention and things  are still not back to where they used to be.

Acupuncture has helped a lot and if you can find a good Homeopath you will feel better.

    Sending my blessings

2-3 exacerbation per  year is broadly the average looking at the research articles. Some people as you can see with Stixlabushka (like that didn't break the auto-spell correct...) and also myself- similar schedule - can get an infection much more often.

Advair is good for me, but that is really because of my asthma. Keeps it under control. Although it's a front line treatment for COPD, won't necessarily help Bx.  the other issue with it is dosage. I was up to 2 puffs twice a day with the 500/50 dosage. But that was giving me the shakes and panicky feelings all the time.

What worked instead was 1 puff twice a day + singulair. Singulair is a funny drug. Only works on about 20 % of people (targets a  very specific inflammation pathway, which may or may not be party of your problem) but happily works for me.
