10 mg at 4 months is pretty good.  If you are still feeling PMR pain then you certainly shouldn't reduce further at this time. The famous saying - "It isn't slow if it works" - a motto to encourage us to take our time while we reduce to prevent flares of the disease. Therapy can be good provided your therapist understand PMR and the fact that your body cannot actually become stronger while you have the active disease.  Gentle (not repetitive) exercise to maintain and increase range of motion is good.  Don't do anything for extended periods, and be sure to build up slowly - probably more slowly than your therapist would encourage, unless they do understand your condition.

Should be doing better after 4 months????  I've been on pred for

almost three years.   It takes some of us sufferers months to get

down 1mg....don't reduce too fast or you will be back in a lot of pain.

If I could get down to l0mg I would stay there for a  long time and

then reduce by one/half mg.  slowly, slowly, slowly

Karen, I have had PMR about the same time , since November 2015. Morning stiffness is a given. At first I could not function or fill semi-normal until about noon.  What I noticed, that after walking my dog, my mobility increased. By noon I walked the dog twice, and that was the key for increased mobility. Then it done on me, I need to start my day with walk, to help me with stiffness. Now I get up, take some quick snack ( usually yogurt and banana ), take 1/2 dose of pred and go for 20-30 min walk. In the middle of the walk I do gentle stretches . This change made a huge difference. I hope that would help you.

P.S. I split pred dose in 2 parts, one late evening and one in the morning. Seems to work best for me. I am also at 10mg, just trying to reduce to 9 since day before yesterday ( dead slow... method).

I agree with the slow folk. Started very end September 2015 20mg reduced in November /December 17.5 over 7+weeks and it took awhile to level. As of Monday I'm reducing .5mg to 17 mg. From then on 1mg at a time till 10mg but still dead slow and leveling off for weeks to months in between. After 10mg we will see if I can drop by 1mg if not .5

The saying "no pain no gain" does not work for pmr. You have pain your body is telling you to stop.

I agree with the others. Your doc is rushing you! This is your PMR, we are all different and it takes its own time to go. Prednisolone is not treating it, just making you comfortable until the PMR goes into remission.

i took MUCH longer to get to 10mg! You have to listen to your body. If you have symptoms, you probably don't have enough Prednisolone.
