Still hurting 3 weeks post op

Just wondering if any of you had the stapled hemmorhoidectomy. I am 3 weeks post op and still hurting. I have what looks to be skin tags or more hemmorhoids? It burns all the time, a lot of pressure when walking or sitting too long. I honestly felt better the second week than I do this week. I have been on stool softeners for 3 weeks, only one day of constipation so far. I soak in the tub 2 to 3 times a day. I had to go back to work this week and I believe that irritated it worse. I need to know how long is this gonna last? Is there hope that it will get better soon? Also, I have used aloe vera a few days now. I can't tell that it's helping any. I have another doctor appointment Monday. I sure need some advice? Thanks

Thankyou. I am trying to. I have been drinking 2 liters of water a day. I just wondered if it is normal for this skin tag or whatever it is..is supposed to be burning this much? I just wondered if that is normal and it feels like when I walk it rubs, and it looks irritated. Should I be concerned that it is infected? Or is this normal. Thanks

Hi there, I have exactly same issue - skin tag which I got on 6th (!) week post op. I feel any movement creates friction that irritates it more. I kept using suppositories, creams etc without any luck. Eventually I decided to see my doctor. She said it's totally normal and will resolve itself without leaving any extra skin hanging around. Today I completed 7 weeks and it's still there. Yesterday I spent 4 hours on the plane and thought I'll pass out from pain. I'll let you know if I get any better within next weeks in a different climate etc. Speedy recovery!

Doc should have gave you antibiotic after surgery if you think its infected call doc, and double that 2 liters to a gallon the hydration most important thing it let's you take all pain meds with no constipation.. I heard stories of skin tags during recovery that went away down the road, remember eat berries, melons and soups while you deal with the horrific healing process NO BREAD, RICE OR PASTA.. Do not wipe after going to bathroom use shower head to cleanse on as warm as you can handle..

Oh no..Olga86. That sounds the exact same way I am. Mine got worse after getting back to work and being on my feet 10 hr days and the place I work is not air conditioned so you can imagine 85 degree heat, Alabama weather, and this friction of walking is killing me. Yes please let me know how you are progressing. I can't imagine a 4 hr flight. Sitting or walking is bothering me. The only relief I get is to sleep and this is so depressing. The doctor told me two weeks and I would be back to normal. This just isn't happening as fast as I had hoped. This has been 3 weeks post op now. Take care

Thankyou I will up my water intake. I have just mostly been eating light. Lots of water, oatmeal, no red meat, no bread. Unfortunately my doctor didn't send me home with antibiotics. Only pain meds and I can't take them because they nauseate me. So just tylenol or advil. I use hemmorhoid wipes after every bowel movement.

hi Angel
you won't notice any significant healing for 6 weeks
complete healing in 4 to 6 moths . at least that was the case for me
sitz bath
fiber rich food
drink two gallons of water daily if you can
good luck

Thankyou maybe there is hope for me yet. Still hurting. Went to the doctor yesterday and he seems to think I am healing fine and it takes time. He doesn't think the area is infected which is good news. Still have a lot of pressure in my rectum, burning, and a feeling of rawness when I walk. Hoping for a good outcome and I didn't realize this would take so long to feel better. I still take a stool softener every day. I hope that isn't something I will have to keep taking to keep my bowels moving. Good luck to everyone and hope we all can recover from this dreadful surgery.
