still in pain

My urogyno told me in October I had LS because of change in architecture
She prescribed clobetasol and I used it twice daily for 5,weeks. I saw her again in November and she told me to use Clob once daily and zinc cream for barrier. She changed my hormone cream as well. I’m seeing her this Wednesday and not feeling very confident she never did a biopsy. I’m reading that many ladies here had one. I still have burning and pain and sometimes itchiness. My anal area burns as well. I don’t have white patches. This whole situation has me feeling very down because I can’t see myself ever improving.

I've gotten some information from the Department of Health and they say it's not required to get a biopsy. Gyn doctors can diagnose by looking at the skin IF there are white crinkly patches present. So the short term pain of a biopsy can be skipped if the Gyn is positive it's LS.

I saw her this past Tuesday because I tested positive for yeast. Now she said she’s not firmly convinced I have LS
This can make a person crazy!
So I’m using cream internally for 6 days. If that doesn’t improve I’ll go back to dr and I will need to have colposcopy to closely examine me.
Hard not be stressed!

Hi Sandra, I once had systemic candida (thrush) and I had to take 2 Diflucan tablets three days apart and use the oral stuff to gargle with to just get rid of it. It is important to make sure you are completely rid of it or the LS won't go away in my experience. Just make sure your tongue isnt white.
With regard to maintenance, we had this chat the other day on here. Some folk believe in maintanence, usually using the cream once or twice a week and some people dont. I am in the second camp. I think once you are free of LS symptoms (flaring) then you should just carry on eating well and avoiding too much sugar. But, you have to do what you feel is correct for you. Bearing in mind that you are hopefully coming out of a flare I think I would use the cream three or four times a week for a week and then maybe back to what you normally do which is twice a week...as I said its all about individual choice. I think for many people they dont like the idea of applying such a strong steroid when there are no symptoms of a flare-up.
Remember, we all flare at some time or other and all sorts of things trigger that, but I do believe its usually sugar overload, or medications that kind of thing, and not whether we did or did not use the Clob that week...
