Still in pain

Hi, 2 years since my hip replacement and I am still limping and in pain? The pain is at the back of the hip just below the waist and every step I take (limping) aggravates it. I thought maybe one leg was shorter than the other after the op - but I have tried shoe inserts but no better. Has anyone else experienced this?Regards

Will have to see my GP I think. When I had my final check-up at the hospital I was limping but the Consultant said it was because I was using my can e in the wrong hand??? Still limping with cane in the correct hand. Every step is painful.

    Dear Jean

I'm sorry to hear this. May I ask when you stopped using one or two crutches? Also if you have had the alignment of your back checked recently?

    Cheers Richard

Dear Jean have you always pumped or is this since having your new hip. Many people limp before and after this surgery and my suggestions were to get you sorted. Cheers Richard

      Dear Jean

Well obviously it is up to you but I would grab two elbow crutches so that you are correctly supported and helped to walk correctly until your muscles are fully recovered. Seeing a chiropractor will ensure that all is right with your back because it is very likely that this is adding to your problemsQ.

Hi, I would have thought after 2 years my muscles would have sorted themselves out? Will see my GP and then, if approved, see a chiropractor.

      Dear Jean

Sometimes the doctors have blank spots also do not like people going to other medical people such as chiropractors.

I can only give suggestions based on what I have personally experienced and what doctor has actually gone through what many of us here have!

My score on limbs is a total gip replacement and recently a revision and the same with one ankle so I have had to find answers and have read and taken a lot of interest in the experience if others on various forums.

The suggestions I've already given you are what I would suggest you try properly and then we can go from there. If you have not got your muscles back to strength and have been walking badly with a limp you have a lot of catching up to do so the sooner you start the quicker you will be walking as you should and without pain.

      Cheers Richard

Hi, I have had this problem for many years following my second hip replacement. It is only recently that I may have the answer to this debilitating pain. Check out sacroiliac joint pain, all information available on the Internet from diagnosis to treatment. I hope this helps you and good luck ☺

That sounds similar to a pain I now have, just 2.5 years post op.

Mine is the OA degeneration in my lower back which was pointed out at my initial X-Ray to determine the cause of my original hip pain.

You will need a X-Ray to be taken to assess if your legs are differing lengths. The way they usually do that is to line up your toes carefully when taking the X-Ray. Differences are then observed by any tilt of the pelvis.

    Hello Jean

This sounds terrible.  I would definitely be seeing the surgeon and asking a few questions.  2 years is a long time.

    All the best
