Still in pain after 6months of healing

I would like to know how long it going to take to not feel alot of pain every time I walk. I had surgery in September of 2017. Second fusion as first one nonunioned.. I have been taking it easy like my doctor said. Six months in bed. All that did was put weight on all over the rest of me. There is great pain when I walk. Swelling in the heel area and numbness and tingling all the time. What do I need to do? Help please

I'm 7 weeks post op broken tubular, dislocation and torn ligaments do not quite sure what u have had done? My cast came off a week ago and I've been given exercises to do every hour and told to walk through my foot and much better weight as I can bear using my crutches. I've been swimming 4 times too and next week I'll start cycling in the gym as well. Maybe u shouldn't be in bed so much, it needs to be exercised to get better

    Hi Dllewis,

I'm not an expert by any means, however, I believe you should be in PT of some sort.

People who have had major surgery are told to get up and move asap. Maybe you need to get a second opinion to get you on the right track. I've had a total ankle replacement four months ago, and I am walking on my own. I go to PT three times a week, which has helped me tremendously.  Without PT, my ankle would have become frozen.

Good luck and keep us posted.
