So hubby has now had further blood test come back for CA19-9 that were negative and the doc insisted on tests for reactive arthritis which is what she thought it was and again they were negative....no mention of a followup to try and track down the problem!

He is now musing over whether to push for a CT.

Has anybody had blood tests come back negative and yet a problem was found later to be CP or PC?

They keep pushing the musculoskeletal and yet he reacts to food which they don't seem to be listening to....he has started drinking Aloe Vera juice and that really helped ease the pain down to a very minor discomfort, this wouldn't help at all I imaging if the issue was musculoskeletal.

The CA 19-9 is a cancer test, why did the doctor do this particular test?

He gets pains in his back and urine is quite orange, he reacts to foods and has had a couple of bouts of what we think may have been acute pancreatitis otherwise the pain is chronic. As most people with an issue with their pancreas we are having problems getting a diagnosis of any type.

The CA19-9 is a test that was recommended by other people on this forum as the symptoms for CP and PC are so similar.

We had to push for that test to be done at all...they keep giving alternate thoughts on what it may be but all test are coming back clear so we are no closer to an answer than we were months ago.

Ultrasounds came back with no gallstones evident so there has to be another cause of the acute episodes he has had and the ongoing chronic pain. When acute he has nausea, abdominal pain, can't eat etc just as you find in AP.

      We are chasing our tales.

It is a test for one of the cancers of pancreas, but it is not a test for pancreatitis. He needs to push for a referral to pancreas specialist.

So sorry you are in so much pain...what a miserable situation sad

Most people seem to think anything other than a CT scan is a waste of time....but damn you've got to fight to get one done!

I have 3 benign lesions in my pancreas and have been getting lots pain that i think is from pancreas, very affected by what i eat/drink. But all the blood tests come back normal.I am a nurse and the evidence says that the pancreas can cope with a lot of illness, inflammation etc long before it shows up in the blood tests.CT scans or MRI scans may help,i had MRI with contrast dye which has shown the lsesions, having more tests and biopsy soon. I find keeping to a low fat no alcohol diet is the best adbvice and really helps.

I was diagnosed within an hour of getting to the emergency room.  Blood tests (including a metabolic panel, lipase levels and C-Reactive Protein), a CT with contrast, X-Rays and an ultrasound confirmed the diagnosis.  Has your DH had these blood tests done?

He's had heaps of blood tests and an ultrasound which all showed nothing, but hoping he will get in for a CT soon.

Funny how they keep pushing that food shouldn't be a problem and yet he has been really good on diet and drinking heaps of aloe juice and has been feeling pretty good then he saw some xmas pudding on sale the other day and got some icecream to have with it (he is so bad) then after about 24 hours he is back to 5/10 pain level again yet she was push arthritis!!!
