I’m 17 weeks post op after posterior repair! And finding sex really painful,  penetration is really really painful, using lots of lube but still no better, wondering should I go to doctor, getting me down!!!! Anyone else gone through this? X

Sorry to hear this, it's a long recovery isn't it?

I had a posterior and anterior repair plus a vaginal hysterectomy ten months ago, I also found sex impossible initially, my consultant told me it'd be twelve weeks and I thought 'no way'! At twelve weeks it was still a no go area, impossible to 'get in'. 😳 I did have the added complication of granulation at the vaginal vault.

It will get easier but for me it was about eight months to be comfortable, sorry to bring that news, but it will get easier. Do pop to your GP for reassurance though, we are all unique in what we've had done and our healing.

    Good luck. Xx

Its worth a trip to a pelvic floor physio to get checked out. My pelvic floor went into spasm after.my op. 2 or 3 visits and it was so much more comfortable amd sex was good again.

It took about 9 months for me to feel like I was almost back to nprmal with my life.

    Good luck x

    Hi Margaret,

I live in Australia, and we don't need a referral to any kind of physio here.
