Still Sick after so long

Hi everyone. i got ebv in october 2017 and am still experiencing flare ups. its horrible. i experience fatigue, sharp pains in lymph nodes, blurry vision, nerve pain all over, stiff aching joints, brain fog, etc. i was healthy before this. i just have no clue what to do, and my mind plays tricks on me because my ex was a cheater and i think this is maybe hiv or something serious, even though all my blood tests have been negative. i just cannot imagine EBV could make someone feel so sick. im 19 and i got this virus when i was 17. i dont know why my immune system cant fight this off. when i got sick i was dating my ex who was horrible and gave me severe emotional stress for 2 years. now i have a thyroid problem due to this virus. anyone else going through this? i want to calm down and believe my negative tests that its not something worse. can ebv really be this bad.

    Hi Nicole,

Wow 2 years must be awful i'm so sorry you've had to put up with this for so long! I've only had it for about 6 months now but can relate to alot of what you said, I've experienced all those symptoms you listed and have had relationship problems myself whilst having this disease ending in a breakup too.

I understand how much this disease can just cause utter stress, worry and anxiety, but i'd say if you've been cleared of the likes of HIV then you're all clear, and as hard as it is, it's something to try and not worry about anymore.

I'd say to try and practise different methods of destressing because trying to research this as much as I can online it seems like us people who get it for a long time got it because we stressed during the initial infection. So it seems to me that trying to destress is really important. I know it's so much easier said then done. There's all sorts of different techniques you could try altho I guess different things work for different people... What I've tried so far and would say helps are: meditating, yoga and going for small walks. Of course you might not be up for some of these I'd say try to socialise when you can or just do things that make you happy, which again is difficult due to the nature of the disease I guess just do whatever you know helps to destress/makes you happy.

Really hope you can get better soon!

P.S the guy that cheated on you is a complete n!bhead.
