I have days when my knee bothers but I can push through that because I know I’m not going to hurt something. Lol - all they keep telling me is no 90 degrees and listen to your body. I’m worried that I have many days I do too much and days that I don’t do enough to keep the strengthening going. Best of luck to you! smile

Hi their..Sorry bout your frustration with your recovery...Is your stiffness constant or just during certain times of the day orcwith certain activities and things you do?

I feel as if I was doing better at week 4-6... I’m also trying to get my house ready to list for sale and have no help. I overdid it all last week with trips up and down the stairs - moving things - cleaning things (haven’t been able to take stairs correctly in over a year so there was lots to do)... but this “heaviness” or stiffness in my hip area has been there since surgery. It’s off to the left of my incision and is still stuck out further than the non surgical side. The X-rays looked fine at 6 weeks but have developed a bit of a limp lately - but wonder if it was the overuse.  On days when I was doing better - it would still do this worse come the end of the afternoon and early evening. I haven’t gone back to work yet and am trying to build stamina back up as I have a physical job. Can’t seem to get any pat answers - it is also a bit red at the spot as well - but Dr. didn’t seem too worried about it at 6 weeks. I struggled so long before surgery - my patience are wearing thin... I’m not one to not be on the move all the time. Not sure if I need to do more PT and more than 2 or 3 Miles  of walking a day.

2 or 3 miles sounds like a lot to me at 6 weeks.  If it doesn’t hurt keep going but if it does ease up a little. Try to not push yourself.  You want to heal and progress. A limp may be an indication you are working too hard.

I’m actually starting into my 9th week today - some days are better than others - I’m trying to listen to what my body tells me - but afraid I won’t do enough ... tough line to interpret at times.

I will be 3 months post op at the end of this week and have done exactly what the surgeon said from day one..my approach has been a cautious one trying to use common sense in everything i do.. I am retired so my approach can be what i want it to be..i have morning stiffness that goes away once i get moving.. I have stairs that i go up and down on a daily basis. Still will not pick up anything heavy. My walking is very good and do what i want with in reason...Walk for excercise only til my checkup April 30. Maybe you should call your ortho and just check in and tell them how you feel..My scar is still a lil lumpy but think that is normal...This recovery takes time as we were cut to the bone and twisted every direction...Keep the faith and stay positive but dont rush things is my mentality...Keep us posted.

Thank you. Doc didn’t seem worried when we talked about it at 6 weeks - but maybe I am the worrier... just didnt expect to see so many variations in people’s recoveries.

What Iam learning is everybodys body responds differently and only we know how we feel... Just take it easy and rest when u need to...For me i am not trying to run a marathon but just be able to play with the grandkids.

Thank you... and I need to learn to slow down... this has been something that has proven that to me. As of this afternoon the house will be listed so maybe I can take it easier and enjoy what finally looks like some good weather coming and back off a bit. Here’s to a good recovery! \o/

I agree with Linda.  We are well aware when we overdo.
