Hello, as you know i struggled very very very bad for the first few days on sertraline and i was very close to giving up, at one point i felt so bad that i was going to go to accident and emergency because i couldnt cope!

after the third horrific day that i experienced, i was so sure that i was going to come off them. Encouragement from other people is so important when going through this! My auntie works with people who are on these medications and a lot of them are on sertraline. Shes been there for me throughout this journey and she explained to me at the beginning that its so different for everyone but it has worked for every single one of her patients. But she did say it can take a while! and said that some of her patients went through weeks and weeks before the side effects wore off and they felt better and they were so close to coming off the tablets and then they were so happy that they chose not to because they started to feel the benefits! Stick with it! You can do it! I promise you at some point you will be so glad that you pushed through!

Yes, l had the same side effects on 25mg.This morning l was ok when l got up but soon after taking tablet started to feel nauseous and thick headed. As the day has gone on l have improved a bit, managed to get out for a short time this afternoon.

unfortunately it has taken 8 months for me to feel 'normal' on a regular basis. By 2 months I was definitely seeing glimmers of hope. Hang in there.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Good to know it worked in the end. I am going to keep going .

Did you feel very awful by 2 months? I have days when I cant leave my bed. I am on 100mg for more than 4 weeks now and still cant do anything, just laying around all day. As soon as I try to go shopping or just out for a walk I feel much worse I have to go back home and lay down. Did you feel any similar. Do I still have hope?

It is indeed. This is the worst period of my life. I keep questioning myself will this med ever work? Is it really worth it?

I am being encouraged to keep going by people who say it does work but takes time. l spoke to someone this morning who seemed to have knowledge that it does have bad side effects but does work well. We must keep going. l have improved a bit as the day has gone on, trying to concentrate on stomach breathing exercises.

Thanks for that. Do you think it takes longer than other antidepressants to work? Now Sunday morning and not feeling good, didn't sleep well.
