Still unsure of redness on penis glans

Posted , 9 users are following.

any idea on what the slight redness could be? Hoping its just a simple rash/ burn from friction or change in soap or excessive hygienic habits... I am really not entirely sure when it first appeared, but i began to really notice it shortly after intercourse, so of course my mind would immediately go to STI/ STD. my sexual partner(s) all claimed beforehand to be STI/ STD free and i have no other symptoms, so i really hope/ don't think it is an STI/ STD. If it is a simple rash, i have been washing with warm water and no soap (some of my dawn sensitive skin soap might get on a little) and i have been applying cortizone10 one to two times daily for almost a week now. any other suggestions?

i will include updated photos in the replies

You may have a skin condition going on, it would be best for you to see a Dermatologist rather than trying to treat what is going on yourself

thanks Doug... do you have any idea what it might be? i have a feeling i am looking too deep into it because it is not always visible

What you need is someone to take, at least initially, the most broadest of views possible: so for example, you may have an autoimmune skin condition going on.

Often, the first place such conditions show is on the genitals.

Someone like a Dermatologist would discuss this, and other potential causes - again, for things like autoimmune conditions the role of diet is a very important factor.

Even as a precautionary, you can look carefully at your diet and look to perhaps use a combination of vitamin and mineral supplements to help minimise dietary links.

However, very often there is a combination of different things going on - so, you mention one of the essentials, that of the forms of body wash that have been in most regular contact with your penile skin - and yes, trying to minimise contact with anything else other than just water is the best approach to take.

Again, as I have eluded to, someone like a Dermatologist would be able to address other factors that may be at least part of what you have going on that I have have no knowledge of the real relevance of - essentially, you often cannot take the one factor of causation approach - but see, and address from the wider, or multifactor angle

A dermatologist is not necessary, there is no reason to see a specialist. Go to your primary physician if you have further questions. Cortisone cream likely wasn't necessary and people often jump to this cream for lack of a better solution in the moment, however, one of the biggest side effects of cortisone cream is dry skin, which I can see quite clearly in your pictures.

thank you for your input! i have stopped using cortizone10 and instead use aquaphor to keep the area moisturised. have not been masturbating still. other than the dry skin, do you see anything else? Some days i don't even notice the slight redness or tiny bumps and my penis looks "normal". i think I'm more so looking for a problem now lol. should i still bring it up to my dermatologist in two weeks? or just let it be?

If you have an appointment scheduled, you might as well bring it up and get the opinion of a professional.

You are circumcised right? So I guess can't be that serious then?
