Still waiting!!!

Hi guys, I'm still waiting on a date for my op. Rang surgeons secretary again on Friday and she tells me the surgeon so busy it will be months before he gets to me, so they have asked for a transfer to someone else and unable to say if he will accept me. This is driving me crazy,is there anyone that I can go to if I'm not accepted by this other surgeon?

      Eileen,

even in the US a lot of mistakes can be devastating. I think the wait can give time to evaluate the surgeons .. Build confidence .

The waiting in most cases is normal... So many THR  so few specialists.

    Hi

THR  OK....sorry I had forgotten.....I've had 2....last one done 28t Jan this year.

That is dreadful getting messed about like that. I've got to admit I dont know much about Musgrave to be honest

I no longer live there but still go over to see my mam and brother

I didnt have OA when I lived there so anything i had to go for tended to be the RVH

What about getting in touct with PALS.......I never have but I know they can help if your not happy with your doc or hospital so I imagine they could help with your problem

Check your private message....I'll send you a quick one.....not allowed to put linkson here.....the mods jump on you and delete itbiggrin

    Hello Crossy..

it's a problem in so many areas with the waiting its crazy.. I am in the same position, yet I am in no hurry. I want the best surgeon to do my revision. The old THR must be removed replaced with a revision specialist. Both hips r bionic...

I have contacted the orthepedic assosion in our state ((US) & asked for a list of experienced surgeons. I have set up appts with 2 so far still checking. I never take the word from anyone in the dr. offic or hospitals. Referals must be from reliable independent sources.

it takes some research. It's our future . We need to have confidence in the surgeon he is good and very little failures and the implants r the best on the market, not just what the surgeon is trained. Perhaps the busy waiting is a excuse..for them...maybe a month waiting..normal..?

The dr office told me & the hospital who referred me to my last surgeon he was the best. So here I am waiting for a revision from the best surgeon implanted in 2011. He wasn't so great or I would nt be needing a replacement 3 years later. It must be removed ..I have been an invalid for the last year..the hip was bad...

so mabe the waiting will give u time to do some searching.. Waiting isn't a bad thing.

I truly am sorry u need THR I have been thru 3 & still counting. A good surgeon and good after care will give u many years of mobility with no pain..

    HOPE
