Still working

Firstly I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone on this forum. You guys know so much more about PMR than my GP! It's helped me so much 😀
I'm just wondering are many of you still working? I'm a nurse and I'm finding it so difficult some days. I also watch my 18 mth grand daughter once a week, the next day my body feels wrecked and I can barely get myself into bed. My arms feel bruised when you press the muscles. Is that what others experience?
Also, can anyone recall when they first started getting PMR symptoms, were you under stress, over working etc?

I still work. As long as I have my PMR under control, I'm fine. However, when I get a big flare up (which has happend at least 4 times over the course of 2 years), I cannot go to work. The pain is just too unbearable. I have gone to work many times, though, when i had pain but wasn't debilitated.
?I was under a great deal of stress right before and during the time I was diagnosed with PMR. My Rheumatologist told me stress doesn't cause PMR; however, I always suspected it played a large part in the disease. After joining this group, I have heard from many here who said PMR is definitely connected to stress.

We've discussed it on here a few times and we always determine that stress, of one sort or another, is involved. There's plenty of academic literature linking stress to the immune system, so I don't know why you'd think developing PMR wasn't influenced by it somehow!

I can tell you that an infection will absolutely have an impact on PMR. I got Strep Throat (from my grandchildren) and it knocked me for a loop; not the Strep so much as my PMR. I also noticed that if I had a particular couple of stressful days, I didn't feel up to par and believe me, it is always reflected in my blood work.
