Hi froggy. I'm same as you - 3 weeks post-op and I've experienced exactly the same pains. At one point I thought it was my ovaries playing up (kept those) and on other days I have a low dull ache similar to period cramps. Mine seem to have subsided now but I totally get that you thought you'd taken a step back. I was pretty down for a few days because of it

However I'm told that different parts of that area and different t internal organs heal at different rates and at different times so it's all perfectly normal. Hang in there if you can. Thinking of you x

Thank you for your quick reply. Ive not got anything left so cant be ovaries lol. I'll ride this bit out then. The pain is high on left so nowhere near op site. Wondering where bowls go as I guess its all shifted round in there. Im due to go back to work next week so was hoping I would be pain free by then!

    Hi Froggy

Sorry to hear about your pain.  It means you have been doing too much.  There is a lot of healing going on inside and it complains when you are straining it.  Just walk a lot, with rests in between.  You cannot do any damage and it uses up all the extra energy boiling away inside.

Everything else can wait a few weeks, get outside and enjoy the lovely weather.

Sorry to be so bossyrolleyes, but you only get one chance at healing your hysterectomy right.  The success rate is not good, and mainly that is down to us girls not doing as we are told!  He! he! lesson over, go walk in the sunshine my child!lol

Hahaha. I love your outlook on everything Jacqui. It is my first day in 3 weeks when I haven't had someone popping in or kids or hubby home so im having a lazy day just wandering around garden occasionally. Im worried ive gone and done something. Did weekly shop yesterday not alone so only carried light bags but have cooked dinner etc for last week and a bit. Do you think thats too much? Xx

      Hi Froggy

      Hi Froggy

Wandering around the garden is very good, also up and down stairs.  The shopping could be a step too far, sometimes what we deem 'light shopping' isn't so light.  Have your shopping delivered saves all the problems.  Because I am my hubby's carer I have had my shopping delivered ever since we returned from Spain.  It saves so much time and there is no having to push past people to see the goodies and no queuing.  I recommend it.  I have mine even put on the kitchen table for me, so no carrying for me at all.  Spoilt or what!  Seriously though it makes my life so much easier.

Hope your pain is easing off now.  Just go easy on yourself, have a little pampering.  The time will fly by, I am 9 weeks now and I just don't know where the time went!  Enjoy the rest while you can.

      Love

Hi Froggy i had exactly the same 3 weeks post op, no pain from op site but left hand side stitch pain which when you get it really knocks you for six and you have to hang onto something to stay upright.  I had it a few times and i think (probably wrong) that where you carry yourself differently so as not to put strain on belly we take the strain in our back instead and this could be related.

Hi. Thank you. I was wondering that. It seems to have moved more around the lower back so was worried it was kidney infection but have had no problems with water works and drinking plenty. How long did it last? I have a drs appointment on Monday so hopinh I can make it through weekend without it getting worse

It lasted about 3 - 5 days really bad but i still get the odd relapse of it now 7 weeks on. I found pressing against it with the flat of my hand (looking rather like rigsby out of Rising Damp - if you are old enough to remember that) eased it and sitting with a firm cushion behind me and to the side helped as well.  I also thought oh no kidneys as its in that general area but i'm sure its down to doing a bit too much and posture.

Thanks. Im really suffering tonight ive managed to find a comfy position with cushions but with knees up so I hope not going to do anything to stomach. I do look like Rigsby when I walk around hee hee. I have swelly belly tonight too and feeling sorry for myself. I dont think it helps that I naturally sleep on my tummy but still can't.

I'm also a stomach sleeper and that was really worrying me before the op, I have been able to lay on my stomach from about week 5, but what i do is go to sleep on my back on 2 pillows and then i always wake up about 3am so at that point take away one pillow and lay on my front until about 7am when i get up, i'm hoping that i will have the confidence to sleep all night on my stomach very soon, i'm not in any pain doing it but because its numb i'm worried that perhaps i shouldn't and it may hinder my healing but thats probably just in my little mind lol.

    Hi

You are doing too much too soon, I thought i was eager at 5 weeks to do things. Please take it easy, you may feel ok but inside your body is trying to heal and you won't let it. Then you get pain, take a backward seat for at least another 3 weeks xx

Thanks Gail. Was worried that I would find it really difficult to rest and then go back to work next week. If dr wont give me another note my 4 week one from hospital is up. Taking it easy for now smile
