Stitches out .....

District nurse just left, stitches out and scar looking good, can't believe less than 2 weeks after op that the healing is so good!  At long last I can have a shower and 'wash my hair'!  Hope everyone else is having a better day than yesterday and if not, hang on in there things will improve very soon x

Hi Pam glad that everything is going ok for you.I am now 11 days post op its strange how consultants differ as mine said I could shower on my 2nd post op day so long as it was covered with a waterproof dressing. Also I was sent home with clip removers and told to see the practice nurse but I dont have any clips or sutures!!! Still the wound is looking good and I am progressing well. Wishing you well.Lynne

Hi Lynne,  many thanks for you kind words.  Indeed it is strange how consultants differ on base things such as showering and sleeping on your side.  You seem to have been lucky but my consultant (although extremely young) insists no showers and absolutely no sleeping on either side ...... Also clips -v- stitches, not sure what determines their choice.  My notes said I had 20 stitches but the nurse could only find 2 one either end of the wound site, she said she thinks the others were all dissolving - hope she is right!  Glad there were only 2 because it stung and but getting them out.  Have s great day

Morning Renee,  not sure if it was anything to do with the shower but I managed to sleep for nearly 6 hours which is longest to date, I feel human again and able to make a decision on whether I want a bacon butty or cereal for breakfast instead of this feeling like I am decided the fate of the nation! Again probably only people having gone through the hip replacement surgery and recovery know what I mean by this.  Did I just read that you need your other hip replaced or is that a different Renee? If it is you I can imagine how your tummy must have lurched when they told you that! Hope you have s good day too x
