Stomach ache after eating

For about 3-4 weeks now I have been getting a stomach ache after I eat anything and it feels like it's progressively getting harder to handle (or I am just getting fed up with it). It doesn't matter to seem how much I eat or what I eat I still get this stomach ache. It usually occurs about an hour/hour half after I have eaten and lasts another 2 hours before slowly stating to settle. If I haven't eaten already in the day I feel absolutely fine, no stomach ache, no weariness, no problems, even after I have eaten it's fine until the hour later. Once I have the stomach ache it slowly is a full ache then kicks in with quite bad pain. It's bearable but I am loosing concentration at work and getting easily distracted by it. When I'm at home I lie down and this seems to help a bit but I usually fall asleep. Before it gets better there are a lot of noises that come from my stomach/bowel (not sure which) then it seems to get better. If anyone can help me with any ideas that would be great, I'm starting to think it's an ulcer possibly or something along them lines. I doubt it's IBS as I mentioned it happens after every meal from a ham salad to a roast dinner. I also haven't been getting any diarrhoea or noticeable constipation. I feel like I am burping a bit more but it might just be because I am looking out for anything related to my stomach. I occasionally feel sick but I think that's more from the pain than what's actually going on inside me. I've only thrown up once from it but that was a bit more forced as it was when I first got this problem and thought I might of had a bug. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I am having the same issues with my stomach and I am only fifteen years old. Recently I was sick with a bad virus for about a week eventually i had to go to the hospital because i was dehydrated, so i had to get an iv with fluid. After about a day from leaving the hospital I felt okay again. Now for about three weeks i hve been feeling the same way you have been feeling.

In Short: Baking Soda is the only thing that reliably stops my "acid bloat"

I get rolling, sometimes painful indigestion-- usually accompanied by(what seems to me) a physical bloating in my upper stomach, no matter what(or how much) I eat or drink. From half a cup of water to salad to even a single Reese's Mini(the marble sized cup), the unrest kicks in between 3 and 15min later. If I haven't eaten, it'll still give me a good kick just to let me know I'm missing out on my regularly scheduled discomfort when my stomach would probably be growling from simple hunger.

Even though I don't suffer from constipation or diarrhea, I've tried IBS treatments because I feel as if I cannot pass gas or burp in response/to relieve my perceived bloating, and they generally do not work. I've taken Pepsid, Zantac, Pepto Bismol, Tums, etc, and only Pepto seems to partially address the non-painful, more nausea related symptoms that occasionally occur.

For what it's worth to anyone still searching for relief, if I swallow about a teaspoon of baking soda(even with the last of whatever will trigger the upset)my stomach gives maybe one or two last angery rolls, I burp/pass gass(mightily lol,) my stomach seems to deflate, and I feel 95% better within 15min.

HOWEVER, because it's sodium, baking soda can cause severely adverse effects regarding blood pressure/heart issues. I've restricted myself to a "zero salt added" diet(which actually isn't that hard because I only really eat twice a day now out of necessity since the discomfort has taken the joy out of eating out) and drink a loooooot of water to try to help my kidneys.

I do not like regularly ingesting baking soda AT ALL, but nothing else works.

      Hi Mimi,

I also have the stomach bloat after eating or even a sip of water to swallow a pill.

When i take a meal it starts normally in about an hour and can last for at least an hour.

When i drink it can start almost in a few minutes.

The feeling is that you need to burp but nothing comes up, i then try to swallow air to belch which most times doesn't work but makes me even feeling worst.

It all started with me having a burning throat months ago. I went to a ent who did the camera up the nose towards the voicebox and  told me i was perfectly fine.

The pain stayed and the anxiety and stress started to built up so bad i think my stomach got involved. Blood was tested and all was okay as well.

I went fo a gastroscopy and was diagnosed Gastritis. The doc took some biopsies from which i still need to get the results from.

I can continously feel my stomach, when i drink i can feel the fluid comming down in it like its a bag or something, very disturbing. My sleep is gone as well..

However the bloating is the worst part. Doc wants my to use ppi's but i am reluctant and am only using Ranitidine in modest. I am on a blend diet now.

Have you being diagnosed? Are you still in pain? Hope you get better soon!

Usually when people have stomach or any gastrointestinal problems, It's due to the food they eat. Most people do not know how to eat correctly. If the doctors gave you a colonoscopy they might've suspected Cancer. Had it of been any form of gastrointestinal cancer they would've found it except for Pancreatic cancer which is extremly difficult to diagnose but you lack the symptoms for that form on cancer so it's more than likely your diet. It cannot be IBS because the symptoms of IBS almost mirror that of pancreatic cancer.

I have had this same problem for about a few weeks and I finally had the gut to go into the doctor and they said taht I was lactose intolerant so o cut out all dairy but unfortunately the pain came back even worse a few weeks later, I'm not saying that lactose could not be your solution but I'm claiming that it did not do anything but make it worse for me, also I saw this was posted a few years ago so did you find a solution if not please tell me

I had this issue and turns out it was a rare congenital gastric diverticulum. It had to be surgically removed. It was growing on the back of my stomach

Every time I eat I get bad stomach pains and go diarrhea once after I eat. It doesn't matter what or how much I eat. Could this be an ulcer? I have no clue but it's been going on for about 2 1/2 weeks.

I know this is in reply to Jays problems posted some years ago but having recently joined the forum I thought this might help other people with similar symptoms. I have symptons described by Jay and was told by my GP that it may be "Dumping syndrome " this is a condition due to undigested food passing into the small bowl and fermenting caused by the stomach emptying undigested food prematurely. I am waiting to see a GI consultant at the moment.

    Hope this helps.
