Hi ladies
I am post menopausal and was wondering if any of you suffer with period like pains and lower back pain and sometimes have a clear discharge . is this normal or is it something to worry about

I believe it's normal! I too get the back ache around my period and the stomach cramps.. At times they can really hurt so I usually take IB Profens and lay down.

Yea I can definitely relate. I have been going through horrible stomach and back pains leading up to and during my period. I have also been having bad constipation, gas and bloating. Everything gets thrown off during this time.

I have not had a period for two months, I am in perimenopause, past few weeks I am suffering from back pain, nausea, bloating. abdominal cramps. Leg pain, sometimes a sharp pain around my right ovary. I've had this same pain in March and visit my gynaecology but couldn't find anything after examination. The pain had stopped for months, now back again, will go back to my doctor again this week to see if there's anything serious. Maybe it's worth a visit to the doctor so your mind is at peace if there's nothing to worry about.

I heard from a gyn once that even after your periods stop you still get menopause symptoms. It just takes a while for the rest of your body to get the memo that you're finished with periods so you still suffer the same symptoms. It's like your body doing a dance. Most of us have been menstruating for over 30 or 40 years so that is a long time for our bodies to be doing this dance. It's just taking a long time for our bodies to receive the message that the band has stopped playing so we are still getting these symptoms. I don't know if my analogy makes sense? The band would be our periods and our bodies going through these changes is like a dance.
