Stomach always upset? Throat always feels weird!

Hello all!
So I'm pretty sure I have GERD. Here latley my stomach just seems to be getting more and more upset. I use to eat a ton of spicy foods for years and I finally think it caught up to me... my throat always feels dry or something is stuck in it. Can't seem to shake it! Anyone else feel this way? Anything over the counter I can give a try?

Sorry to hear about this. Sounds like pretty classic reflux with throat irritation. I've been dealing with sudden onset of GERD as well (actually LPR since it's mostly my throat and sinuses that are impacted). You can surely try over the counter generics like Ranitidine (Zantac), and there are many who do that. In my opinion that just masks the symptoms since it lowers stomach acid rather than getting to the root of the problem. You should probably see a doctor to make sure there's nothing major wrong with you, but likely they'll tell you to start taking acid reducers and to cut out certain foods. You might ask to get tested for H Pylori since you say your stomach is upset a lot -- you might be developing an ulcer. I'd definitely suggest that you start sleeping with your head elevated, either with a wedge pillow or by putting bricks or books under the head of your bed frame. That's helped me a lot. Then give your throat time to heal by avoiding really acidic foods for a couple weeks -- so basically, eat blandly. Then you'll want to deal with the actual reflux. There are lots of theories on this, but since you say you're very gassy I'd suggest you look into the theory that too many carbohydrates are causing your reflux by fermenting in your digestive system and sending up gas. Good luck!

I agree with nick64380. Just go on a temporary diet from spicy foods and eat bland foods while your throat and stomach recover. I'd recommend eating light, I eat oatmeal for my breakfast with water or juice, yogurt as a snack for lunch and steamed veggies and rice for my dinner everyday with either ginger tea, green decaf tea or Chamomile tea which are all good for the digestive system.
