I suffer from ibs with constipation. I can usually manage my condition but recently I got extremely constipated and didn't poop for 3 weeks. I tried everything and could not have a bowel movement. I decided to make a trip to the emergency room because I was feeling aweful. well they gave me a crap ton of laxatives and 2 enamas to make me go, i mean it worked and it was explosive diarrhea but I went poop. After this I tried to eat and keep a steady diet but my left side hurt really bad I could feel gas move through my left side and soon after id have a bowel movement but it felt very uncomfortable. i haven't been eating much because of the pain. I have had CT scans and Xrays, blood work and urine sample and it all came back normal and our local gastrointestinal doctor does care. I don't know what to do. i have bowel movements still they are just uncomfortable.

Are you taking any antispasmodics like alverine? If not ask to try it, it is the best IBS medication I have tried and try deflatine for the painful gas.

Eat things like salads, avacados, olives and flax seeds. Also try aloe vera juice you can get it from your health food shop you mix some with water and have it twice a day. As well, take vitamin C and the B vitamins particularly B12. I always have a cup of green tea every morning and I find that helps my stomach keep things moving. Keep drinking water slowly throughout the day, if you are dehydrated it can constipate you.

It sounds like an IBS flare up since all your tests are normal. Try a food diary to see if a food is the problem and try eating lots of fruit to ease the constipation. Lots of fruit helped my IBS C. Try an antispasmodic for the pain; you may have to try several. The Low Fodmap Diet may help. Try a stool softener to make stools easier to pass. You are doing the very best you can for your IBS. Try to keep as calm as possible because stress can trigger your IBS. Change your doctor.

please go back to your doctor's, insist on something to shift the pain and tell them just how bad you feel, don't miss any details. see if they recommend anything to help. your left side may hurt because you are still bunged up. they needed to clear your bowel, i know how you feel because i have been there, it's tough but you get there, drink masses of liquids, if you can't eat try these food replacement shakes (your pharmacist may know what to suggest). i wish you luck, hopefully you'll be ok!
