Stomach pain and Low blood sugars after eating?

Hi all,

For the past 3 years I have been dealing with a laundry list of health issues since taking a 10 day dose of Doxycycline for a bladder infection. Two days or so after my antibiotics were over I had debilitating stomach pain, combination cramps, gas, loose stools, constipation. Usually made worse after meals, also started having low blood sugars post meal usually about an hour after eating. I've seen quit a few doctors from gastro to endocrinologists and have basically been told I am completely healthy after a large amount of test were done. Has anyone had ever experienced anything of the sort, this is on and off for me, I'd love to try get some sort of diagnosis to figure out how to combat this, any insight is greatly appreciated.

Sure sounds like pancreatitis to me......it usually takes Drs awhile to figure it out, my levels can be completly normal and I can be having an attack.

I have had the Whipple Procedure.....where they removed the head of the pancreas because it was too hard and basically dead, it is a 10 hour surgery and is pretty dangerous. They left the rest so I could make insulin, I still have pancreatitis and my only relief is to live on pain pills.

Everything you are describing is exactly what I go through 90% of the time.......I'm serious about the Drs, you may need to find a new one

I've also had my gall bladder removed, which is what they said was the problem before........ finally (after 4 years) they decided I had pancreatitis

Rick did you also have trouble controlling your blood sugar, I was diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia after an oral glucose tolerance test showed my sugar went from 118 to 48 in during the first hour, then went back up to 70 an hour later

Hi yes sounds very much like my story ! I had. Fall about 3 years ago then 6 months after that started having attacks ! Mine is so much worse if I have alcohol so I hardly ever do but mine comes and goes to I have also had scans , tests everything and so far nothing shows but the doctor doesn't seem to believe me ! I guess it will show up one day but it's just the waiting ! I am having an episode now and terrified as I'm due to go abroad Saturday ! Is so unfair because the doctors just don't seem to believe people , why would I fake being in pain and I just want my life to be normal ! I hope they find out what's wrong soon pat X

Exactly the same as me. I get pain right accros my abdomen. I feel hungry a lot, even after i have just ate. I bought a diabetes tester to check blood sugar and was fine. I have had ct scan and ultrasound. Both were fine. I had an Eus but he didnt check my pancreas, only my biliary system. No stones or blockages. Doctors have now basically said, cant find a problem so they ahve written me off as undiagnosable or IBS. This is utter nonsence!

My symptoms are, pain that feels like a balloon being blown up and squeezed in left upper abdomen. Pinching pain in upper abdomenjust below ribs and feeling weak and hungry. have seen 2 gastro specialist, they say its a functional bowel problem. Im at a loss as to what to do now.

coincedently, all my symptoms started after prolonged antibiotic use. Wonder if our gut bacteria is out of ballance

      Leigh,

I went down the gut bacteria rabbit hole for a while, ate nothing but fermented cabbage, and milk kefir for months along with digestive enzymes, although I did have some relief it's a very difficult life style to sustain, and once I go off I am back to square on. I pretty much narrowed it down to either pancreatitis or gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying)

I've come to the same conclusions as you. I specifically mentioned pancreatitis to the gastro consultant and he said it can't be that because of negative ct scan. From what I've read, pancreatitis is not always observed on a ct scan. Gastro doc has discharged me saying its ibs. Got an appointment with gp soon. Will follow up with him.
