Stomach pain / diarrhea for weeks

About three weeks ago I ended up in the ER with sudden pains, it basically seemed to come down to a GI issue, but they didn't help much, just give a pepcid and send home and told me to take a bottle of magnesium citrate to clean everything out since it appeared to be backed up a bit.

Since then I've had a dull but burning pain right below my ribs around my stomach. Eating helps some but I don't get any real reliefe until I take another Pepcid then it fades away for a while.

I have a lot of bubbling and twitching feelings going on in there, and have had diarrhea this whole time... Sometimes its more solid, sometimes its just pure mush and water.

I'm starting to wonder if I have a stomach ulcer or some type of infection or virus? What could be the cause? before this happened a nasty cold virus went around our town, which our whole family including me came down with, i seemed to get the weakest form of it though.

Anyone else have similar problems?

Go back to your doctor and get a stool sample tested for h pylori.   Keep a food diary in case you are intolerant to something.  You could also ask for an endoscopy/colonoscopy.

Could this also be an ulcer caused by NSAID use? I stupidly was taking asprin probably a couple times a week uncoated and on an empty stomach at night...

my doctor has recommended me to a GI specialist to get a scope done, but put me on dexilant 60mg once per day, if it is NSAID caused errosion, how long does it take to notice anything? I haven't had any major pains since starting it, just a dull pain when hungry, eating seems to make that go away and i feel fine at that point.

If you have an ulcer or Erosion when takeing a PPI do you still have slight pains? I've only been on the PPI for 3 days now. I previously was taking 10mg Famotidine twice a day (pepdic complete)

I want to also add that the very slight pain that is left in my stomach after starting Dexilant 60 mg does completely away after eating a small meal.

Been on Dexilant since Feb 28th now, no longer getting a dull burning feeling in my stomach, only hunger pains when I am hungry from not eating... so that's an improvement...

I never got a test for H. Pylori, I was sent for blood work and the doc wrote on the form "Gastritis" the lab had no idea how to interpert that... ugh... so they only did the other tests the Dr. requested (Vit d, cholesterol, etc).... I need to call about that to the doc and request a H. Pylori blood test, since the other tests are impacted by taking a PPI, I haven't been on an antibiotic since I was probably 7? so if I test positive for it, it's got to be in me...

My question now though is it possible to aggrivate an ulcer when on a PPI? Yeterday I ate lunch then about an hour to two hours later I had a sudden stomach spasm which felt like someone pushing their finger into an open wound, only lasted a few seconds and was fine after that the rest of the day... it littearly felt like my upper abdomen was contracting in during that time... I assume I somehow aggrivated it and caused that and the pain was from the ulcer?

The only thing I am on right now is Dexilant, they didn't give me any anti-biotics (since I didn't get tested for H. Pylori) and nothing to coat the stomach (nothing like Carafate or its alternatives) so I assume it's pretty easy to cause ulcer pain still under this condition? I'm just treating the stomach acid burn part?
