Stomach pain with persistant nausea and diarrhea, but no appetite loss?

Hey everyone,

I have the strangest set of symptoms for approximately 6 days now and I would like to hear if anyone has experienced something like this.

I have previously had GERD but recently it seems to have subsided, no need for the medicine anymore as I feel no pain, no burning, no discomfort. Just thought that is worth mentioning - it is probably the only stomach disease I have ever had, but what do I know it might play a role on this. I had also been really recently well ultrascanned for sudden sharp pains in my right upper abdomen, all results coming back completely clean and good.

However, as mentioned about 6 days ago I had a little pain attack on my right lower abdomen, and then developed sudden nausea. Truth be told I often get that right lower side pain but it's mostly because of my ovaries, and I had to have my periods soon so I didn't really pay much attention, thought it would all go away soon. But the nausea persisted, and I have it up until this day. It varies from real bad to mild, but never goes away. I thought it could be the appendix after all, but I can do jumping jacks, I have no fever, no rebound tenderness, and the most confusing of all - my appetite is great. Figured if there was a stomach trouble I would probably not be hungry?

The other strange thing is with my stools, in the past few days I go to the toilet about 3 times a day with what feels like an "important deal", while I usually go once. I also went all the way from really gassy to hard, chunky stools, and today to really unpleasantly smelling diarrhea. Which is again strange because I led the same relatively healthy, fiber-rich diet all along. During this time I have also felt a lot of gurgling in my stomach and intestines, some cramping and discomfort, and the aforementioned right side pain is really never the same - from just below the rib to all the way down where my ovaries are.

I have ruled out the pregnancy - did a test this morning, since my periods didn't show up (then again I should probably mention they haven't been regular since I was 16), negative. Appendicitis - unlikely. I do have a mild anxiety but I didn't experience any shock, stress, or negative emotion in this week that could cause these problems. The fact that I have a fine appetite with those intestine problems confuses me a lot. Any feedback would be welcome!

    Hello there,

Sounds like a mix of unpleasant symptoms!

Are you taking any medications for any of the symptoms?

I would suggest it may be a stomach virus. You're right - normally you lose your appetite with these; however, a few of my colleagues are currently down with a nasty vomiting bug and strangely enough they still have their appetite! Do you have a temperature at all?

I would suggest you ensure you eat healthy and light foods for the time being. Stay off dairy as that's not good with vomiting. Ginger tea works wonders with me when I'm nauseated!

6 days is quite a while to have had a virus for, so keep an open mind - I could well be wrong. If symptoms continue then you should definitely see your GP.

Hope you're feeling better very soon,

I am not taking anything against the symptoms as they are unpleasant but not to an extent that they would cause major problems with my daily life. I do make sure to eat healthy and drink a lot of water, since I lose a lot of it.

Today I actually fell ill with a very slight fever, 37.2, still monitoring to see if it rises, staying in bed, and strangely enough I got a burning feeling in my stomach area... the stomach bug has probably triggered my GERD again. Unpleasant.

    Hello!

I was wondering what method you've used to eventually overcome the nausea, stomach pain and diarrhea. It seems like i'm presenting with much the same symptoms.

I've got no history of GERD or anything else, nor is it that time of the month.

Any help would be very appreciative.

    Thanks!
