Stomach troubles. IBS?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi I am a 39 year old fit male. Since end of April I have had on going stomach issues. Symptoms are a mixture of constipation, the need to go more up to 6 times per day, bloating, left side discomfort and lately constant lower stomach bloating. I have had blood tests and sigdinoscopy which were both clear. I have tried buscopan and peppermint meds but with no relief. I would just like some opinions on what to do next. This is driving me to my wits end!!!

I have a docs appointment on Tuesday again but as we know this process can't take ages!

Movement and my belt seem to effect it too. HELP!!!!!

    Hi Keith

I really do sympathise with you.Are you stressed about anything at the moment as stress does play a big part with IBS. I have had a lot of stress late,y and my IBS has been really bad.

I take Meverbine tablets (I hope thats the correct spelling but not sure) which the doctor gives me and it definitely helps the pain.

I have to really watch what I eat, nothing spicy and definitely no onions as they really upset me. Also no Chinese soups as they have monisodium glutamate in them which really makes me ill.

I Hope you get some relief from your symptoms soon.

    Regards

    SYLVIA

Ask your doctor about IBS since all your tests have been clear and ask for a different antispasmodic. Also ask if you need other tests such as an ultrasound or stool tests. If you are diagnosed with IBS, you may have to try several medications. I was prescribed Mebeverine which didn't work and made my symptoms significantly worse. Buscopan works for me because it is

mild enough not to irritate my stomach and gives me pain relief.

Thanks for reply guys. Had a stool test already which also returned normal. On a stress level, I don't feel stressed but have recently changed job and started night shift which has also effected my sleeping pattern. I could be worrying about what's wrong a bit much as I feel it's playing a massive part in my life at moment.
