Stone removal after stone removal

According to my CT scan, I have a roughly 10-11 mm stone in each kidney. I am set for an operation on the 6th of September. Whatever the pain involved or the stent, I need to get rid of those buggers, so my question is: How much time is recommended to wait between operations (Ureteroscopies).

Hi, sorry to hear your also having issues with stones. I had the surgery with stent placement for a 5mm stone that was stuck in urethra. Cat scan shows that I have multiple stones in right kidney as well but small enough to pass on own. I cant imagine having stones of the size you describe. Wow!! I hope you are not in serious pain. Sorry i cant answer your question but I wanted to offer my support from one sufferer to another!! ☺

No idea I'm afraid. I only had one operation as I only had stones in my right kidney.

Sorry I can't answer your question I think the consultant urologist is the only one who will be able to answer this.

In the meantime best wishes for 6th September.

    Remembering you in my prayers.

Do take care and keep in touch

What procedure are you having done?  I know There are 2 different procedures. I had a PCNL  performed on my right kidney on August 2 to remove a 20mm stone and while in the kidney they found an 8mm stone that never showed up on X-ray or cat scan.  I also Have 2 small stones in my left kidney that they will need to blast eventually.  And while down at the IT radiologist he noticed I have Urethral stenosis which is narrowing of the urethra.  I may Have to go to a nuclear radiologist to find out why because of it narrows any further then that is bad juju and my kidneys won’t be able to flush out the urine.  Anyway, back to the surgery.  The PCNL was not bad at all.  I was Peterified and it really was not horrible.  They gave me some great drugs in the hospital that made me feel wonderful right after the surgery, and by the next day i was only on percacet and i took that for about 3 days.  I am 2 weeks out and there is a little tenderness on the kidney from time to time.  So, I would Say you would have to wait at least 2 weeks.  You want to make sure the one kidney is healed before they perform surgery on the other. At least for a PCNL which is the more invasive of the 2 surgeries.  I hope This information helped.

Oh and more thing. My doctor removed the stent after a week and once the stent was removed most of he pain was gone.  The stent isn’t horrible pain. I just Felt bruised with it in, and full. but once it was gone the majority of the uncomfortableness was gone.

I was found to have Urethral stenosis as well.

One of the urologists I saw sent me for a flexible cystoscopy which the doctor was unable to complete because of this.

Had PCNL for stones in my right kidney.

      All now fine.

Did they ever tell you why you got urethral stenosis?  I’m curious as to why.  When I researched it the internet said, born with it, some cancers can cause it, scar tissue which I had A c-section and my tubes tied at the same time, kidney stones (which I had/have).  I have Never passed a stone and I was Never in pain from my stones.  My urine was different ( occasional blood, strong odor, cloudy). This all happened after my 4th baby which was my only c-section and when I gor My tubes tied.  My gyno said my urine was hat way from the hormones from breast feeding so I left It alone for 14 months, since it was never causing me pain.  Until I sgopped breast feeding and the urine odor was still there. After many antibiotics. My main dr sent me to a urologist where he did a complete workup and found the stones.  All is good now, not sure what we are going to do about the stones in my left kidney.  I go On Tuesday for a recheck ironed and x-rays. Just wondering why my urethra is narrowed.  They are not sure what is causing me to make stones since they sent the stone out for analysis and I don’t have those results yet.   Has your urethra narrowed anymore?  When were you diagnosed with it?

Urethral stenosis diagnosed in April last year when I went for flexible cystoscopy.

      No idea what caused it.

At the time I was FURIOUS with the Dr for not completing the procedure. It was uncomfortable but not unbearable and just wanted him to carry on as this was now delaying sorting out the kidney stones and I was really fed up with the pain.

I was a complicated case. Born with horseshoe kidneys (joined together) which made access to the stones a lot more difficult. Had recurring urine infections.. The result of the stone analysis was the urine infections which caused them.

I had A cystoscopy as well.  And they didnt have a problem going into the urethral with it.  The urologist actually never even caught thag I had stenosis even though he had don’t X-rays and  a CT scan. The IT radiologist noticed it when he was placing the guide wire into my kidney for the PCNL.  I go For my recheck this Tuesday and will find out the results of the stone and then he will decide what to do about the stenosis.  I have Been fine now and I wouldnt Even know I had Stenosis if they hadn’t told me.  I will Keep you updated.
