Stool issues

Hello
Does anyone else have an issue with floating poop? Mine seems to float all the time. It didn't concern me until a friend said that it's a really bad sign. I suffer really badly with a health anxiety and now I'm so worried and get very stressed and tense when i need to go to the bathroom.
Sorry about TMI and thanks for reading.

Floating stools can mean any number of things and is not necessarily a bad sign. Some people with IBS get this . See your doctor who will be able to reassure you with tests and a diagnosis. Expert medical is the best thing to relieve your health anxiety. Your friend may not be an expert in gut problems.

oh lisa i can relate to this 100%. i think i must have always had floating stools , but i had horrible bowel problem in may last year which conitinued for 4 minths ( soft , pale ) i then googled and ofcourse WITHOUT EXCEPTION it was terminal anyway after a colonoscopy was clear the bowels cleared up (oct to dec) THEN during a very very stressful december and january ( last week i was diagnose with heart disease ) low and behold stomach has flared again soft pale stools
my point is i think IBS is a likely candidate althought my stool always float, i think stress changes colour and shape so i think it could be something inocent
i have developed horrendous health anxiety and googled to enterinity it consummed me so much so that i developed and still have almost a phobia of using the bathroom because i have to check colour , shape ..... everything its horrendous
i know this is graphic but your not alone x

Hi Fiona
I've had spells of pale and soft stools as well, and like you they seem to happen when im stressed and anxious. Ive suffered with IBS symptoms since my daughter was 4 (shes 25 now!) . Its restricted my life so much and I'm constantly looking for things that might help. Im so thankful that you replied to me and I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to write.
It is good not to feel so alone.

hi lisa! i get floating poop sometimes. especially annoying when it needs a double flush! i think if its really bothering you speak to your GP. im no expert in the field and ive often wondered myself why it does that!. i know its not the nicest topic to talk about but better a few minutes being embarrassed than a lifetime of being uncomfortable. x

I am 48, almost 3 years post menopause. My IBS seemed to get worse about 6 years ago when my periods started getting a bit hit and miss. Things got worse again for me about 3 years ago when my partner left me with no warning, at the same time my ex husband died suddenly and my sister in law passed away from cancer so it was a really stressful time all round. I find I get quite a lot of nausea, especially in the mornings. I also was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency in September last year.

That too is an awful lot to deal with. Its hardly surprising that you have issues with anxiety and IBS. Life is cruel and very hard sometimes. Its good to share worries on forums like this. Sometimes just writing things down that others who are going through hard times can read and maybe advise or just offer support can help xx
