Stool problem

So I have been concerned about my bowel movements from quite a while. I have soft stool 3 days a week it looks brown some times 2 different shades at the same time with a bad odour(I don't know if this smell is normal). Also I feel very slight pressure on the right side of my abdomen just below right rib. All my blood tests came back normal and stool d/r and occult blood also came back normal plus my upper abdomen ultrasound was also normal. I'm very concerned about colon cancer (which is unlikely as I'm only 18 yrs old) and I'm also an anxiety patient. I also had E.histolytica shown up about 3 months back in a stool test if it helps.. Much thanks

We tend to over analyse everything with anxiety, especially if its related to cancer. I myself have fallen victim to checking every stool I have and thinking 'is the colour normal?' And I go back and forth and around and eventually it leads to really bad anxiety....doesnt matter how many times a doctor could tell me...its ok....I would still be there, the day after, checking and building my anxiety.

My advice, if the doctor says its all ok, stay confident and trust them. We watch too many tv shows and movies that teach us that its normal, but the reality is its extremely rare and although it can happen, the chances are so low its not logical to believe if a doctor says your ok and nothing to be worried about, that its still something. I know that is easy to say but very difficult in practice to overcome, but we all with HA have to understand and somehow get by those intrusive thoughts and I for one think sharing experiences that lead us to this path helps.

My final bit of advice, don't check you stool so often. it changes daily depending on diet, food's etc....its crazy the variations you can have....I drank too much Cranberry juice because I heard its good for gastritis, the morning toilet session was not pleasant 😄 so its easy to over think and lets say, let your stool be stool, check it maybe the same day once a week, then move bi weekly for example 😃 this will cause less triggers for anxious thoughts.

You absolutely are right Sir. Maybe I'm overthinking and very anxious about my health while I'm only 18. I have given 3 stool tests this year(occult blood included) and all came back normal also both of my yearly CBCs came back normal and I'm glad my hemoglobin is 14. I should try to manage my anxiety cause I'm also passing a lot of gas throughout the day and it is related to anxiety i guess. Anyways much thans Sir may you'll be blessed 🙂
