Stopped Citalopram but feel down again!

Hello im a 34 year old single man, i started taking Citalopram about 18 months ago on 10mg but was put up in stages to 40mg. At the time of taking them i was alcohol dependent also. In the last 12 months i have stopped smoking, in the last 7 months i have stopped drinking & lost 3 stone. Health wise i feel great & financially i am a lot better than previously. With all the positive changes above i decided to gradually come off Citalopram over about 3 months, cutting down to eventually 5mg every other day. I have been totally off Citalopram for about 1 month but now i feel down very often. i separated from my partner 14 months ago & feel very lonely from time to time. My temper is bad & i have started dreading work which i never did before. I have no idea what is wrong with me & i just wish i could feel happy again. Now im thinking that i may need to go back on the medication!!! I exercise 3 times a week but apart from that i do not go out any where. Obviously i cannot drink socially any more so going to bars etc is not really an option for me. My son stays with me quite often and im getting to the point agin when if it wasnt for him i dont know what i would do
Any help or advice would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance Tony.

All those positive changes you have made to your life shows that you are a very strong and courageous person. Did you speak to your doctor before starting to come off the medication?
