Stopped Evorel Conti

Hi, I stopped Evorel Conti last  October as I was spotting/bleeding very few weeks and it was driving me nuts! I wanted to see how I would do without it and so far no spotting/bleeding... but I am experiencing vaginal dryness and burning which is unpleasant and also the flushing has come back to a degree (and I have discovered a cervical polyp which is getting quite large (I have booked an appointment to have it removed) anyone else had polyps? what happened? I feel would like to try another brand of HRT as I am having aches and pains.. ahhh.. the joys of the menopause  I'm 67 and been on Evorel for 14 years. Would love some feedback ...Happy New Year!! smile

If you don’t want to go back on a systemic HRT, I found ovestin cream (applied to the vagina) to be very good at solving vaginal dryness and discomfort.

Hi pat I have been on the a viral conti for 3 months and I still get a little dark discharge every day but the up side is the benefits I was on premique for 4 yrs then they stopped it and of production so I tried two others but had bad side effects I couldn't stand it I have a bladder prolapse and each time I stop the hrt

Sorry each time I stop it must be the lack of oestrogen as the prolapse give a me problems again however since on the Everol I'm ok again so to me it's worth the perseverance as I'm.lucky apart from slight weight gain no side effects so I'm sticking with it..I'm 58 I'm dreading when I have to come off them again as I don't want an operation ...good luck with what u decide but ive read somewhere u can cut the patches in half and it has stopped the spotting in some ladies xx

Hi Jeanette, I cut the patches in half and still had spotting... since I stopped HRT I haven't had any spotting for 11 weeks... but because of the discomfort i was feeling with the dryness and burning I put half a patch back on and within 4 days I started bleeding again!  The Ovestin cream sounds good.

Hi Pat. I too was having spotting, every few days, with the evorel conti patches. I tried cutting the patches but the sweats came back. On the advice of a menopause specialist I have changed to Evorel 75 patches and utrogestin pill. Only 2 weeks since changing but no spotting so far. I also use vagifem pessaries for vaginal dryness/discomfort. Hope you find something to help you.

Hi Pat. Quick update... 44 days since starting the new HRT.... I've just had one day of mild spotting around week 2-3. Nothing since. My breasts have been very tender for last 2 weeks so I emailed the specialist and she advised cutting a corner off the oestrogen patch to see if that helps. I've gained around 4lbs but hoping I can lose that soon and it well help with the breast issue.

So I'm thinking/hoping taking the progesterone separately suits me.

I have a follow up with the NHS gyne in the next month, no date yet, to check on uterus lining/fibroids after it was found to be getting thicker at my last checkup. They advised to stop HRT as said that was causing spotting. No way do I want to do that and will stay in contact with the menopause specialist also.

Have you seen your GP? Any joy?

Hi Maisie. I saw my GP a few weeks ago and she said the polyp I have is very big.. so.. went for an ultrasound and I have to a see a Consultant next week because I need a Hysteroscopy to remove it and check inside to look at the fibroids I have. My GP doesn't want me back on HRT before the polyp is removed. She has recommended Premique when she is happy to prescribe it again which is lower in Proestogens that Evorel. I will update you when I know more. Thanks for keeping in touch, that's great!. I hope you feel better soon, with me it was the oestrogen that caused my boobs to hurt so much and cutting the patch down definitely cured that!. You can stay on HRT for ever if you want to (so many Gynos have said it's fine.. it really is a question of finding the one that suits you. xx
