Stopped taking sertraline

Hello

I was taking 200mg sertraline per day along with 30mg of miritazipine. Ten days ago I had my last dose and although I am not getting any phycological issues I am getting brain zaps that are very servere and I'm wondering how long it is until they eze.

My reasons for suddenly stopping taking my medication is that I feel I am being controlled by being kept drugged all the time. I am sure that these drugs have an alternative motive else why would they be so addictive and hard to get off. The problems in my life that made the doctor prescribe these meds is nothing compared to the misery and suffering and loss of time spent just existing.

I’m so sorry that has been your experience on Sertraline. Maybe it wasn’t  the right medication for you?

I did have side affects for the first few weeks but once that calmed down I felt so much better and the opposite to feeling drugged. On the contrary I feel really energetic and motivated . Maybe try something else ? They are all different.

    Best wishes

    Paul

Thanks for your reply Paul. I have been on sertraline for four years and it's just come to a head I feel like I don't want to be controlled anymore. I am the first to admit I do have manic tendancies but that is me it's my personality I feel like I have been robbed of who I am.

I also strongly suspect that these drugs are not designed to help but to suppress people. I don't think it is at the doctor level every doctor I have seen I belive has been genuine and tried to help but I think the pharmaceutical companies and the government have different agendas.

Just existing is exactly how I feel being on setraline it's so exhausting putting on a brave face sometime when inside you just feel empty. Don't get me wrong if it wasn't for these tablets I would definitely have went crazy. Just be careful 200mg is a lot just to stop taking last thing you want is to go back to square one. Good luck.

Hi Deborah. Are you starting to feel little improvement about now. I would say in my case about 8 wks. Maybe slightly longer . Good luck ☺

HI Maureen yes I’m aving little improvement. Do u mean it can take longer than 8wks? And will I eventually start to feel like myself again 🌹

Hi can take 8 wks to start feeling more you again. I think we will all suffer highs lows with our anxiety. But you will see big improvement hopefully. I've got hypnotherapy at 12 for this. It helps me. But can't drag myself to get organised even though I will be much better after it x

Hi Maureen do you think I will start to eventually feeling like myself again? Cus it’s so scary not feeling like myself and feeling detached from myself and my luv 1s 🌹

Hi Deborah I'm no doctor. But I have been where you are and to me it takes a little bit of time. But you will start to see improvement. Although I'm still getting odd down days it's more good than bad. And I'm sure you will be the same just stick with it and you will get that smile back ??

You're welcome debra when I first got unwell I felt like there was only me going threw this. Until I started speaking about it and was amazed how many people were going threw it. It's a horrible thing. But you learn to cope and deal with it 👍
