Stopping bp meds

Hello All!

I am new to this forum. I was taking Losartan 50 mg and it wasn't bringing down my bp so my doctor added Norvasc 5mg. My bp went down so low that I stopped taking them. About a week later I began having diarrhea. Has anyone else experienced this after abruptly stopping these meds?

    Welcome to the forum shacerv!

I did not have this as problem but lord knows I wish I had instead of all the other! In a way, having diarrhea is actually helping your body to rid itself of any toxins that may be left in your system.  I wouldn't sweat it unless it becomes a big problem.

Wow! I never looked at it like that. Yeah it's only been 24hours now. I tend to be a worry wart anyway. I have a doctor's appointment on Saturday and I will tell all to her. Thanks!

Sharcerv52408...It's not my intent to criticize, but a person should never stop taking their medicine without first consulting their doctor. It could be dangerous.

Also, if your bp went down so slow after taking the added Norvasc 5mgs...did you

report this to your doctor? Perhaps taking just 2.5 (pill cut in half) may just do the trick. If you don't have any bp meds replacing the Losartan & the Norvasc, your bp could rebound, which is what you don't want.
