Stopping Escitalopram abruptly

Hello everyone.

I started taking 10mg of this drug just a few days ago and I really want to stop taking it.

I realize that you're not supposed to abruptly stop taking it but since I've only been taking it for a few days, how bad could the withdrawal symptoms be?

I have had numerous side effects in the short amount of time taking this drug and that is the reason for wanting to stop it.  I have a doctors appointment later this month but I feel like I can't wait until then.

I thought about trying to cut the pills in half and try to taper off that way but I'm not sure that's a good idea or not?

Thanks,

John

John call your doctor and ask how you should stop

The first few days can be rough. I started at 5mg and did 2 wks on it before going to 10. It’s worth talking to your Dr about doing a week or 2 at 5mg  then bumping up to 10.

Good luck  don’t give up as it does get better.

    Thanks guys,

I really don't understand why anyone would put up with all these side effects in the hope that after 6 or 8 weeks or even longer some people mentioned, you would start to feel better.  In my opinion it's not worth it.

Are there no other drugs like escitalopram that don't have this many side effects?

I'm in between doctors at the moment so I might not be able to get an answer , so in the meantime I'm just gonna stop the drug and take my chances.

    Thanks for your concerns.....
