Brenda, how long did you take OL for, and at what dose? The speed of the taper depends on the duration of your usage...

Brenda, I hope it all goes well for you. If you experience side effects from this withdrawal (that is, anything that you are not CURRENTLY experiencing), please post back here as there are people who have gone through this and will be able to help.

I'd recommend not cutting all links with your doctor regarding this (eg cancelling a prescription) until you are 100% sure you are OK.

You mention on some other threads that you carry out mindfulness. This is going to be key in your recovery from this drug; I strongly encourage you to do more of this therefore (at least 20-30 minutes a day, slowly building up to twice that). It will facilitate the repair of your brain through receptor re-sensitization, which will minimize your anxiety.

Please post back here if you have problems during your withdrawal!

i was on 10mg for 10 years. i cut one tablet one day a week in half and did that for about 2 weeks. then i cut another tablet in half and did that fir 2 weeks. i also made sure i did a full tablet one night and a half the next night, never two halves in a row...at least until i was doing mostly halves. i then just repeated this process over until i was on 7 days of halves.

when i was on 7 days of halves i stayed on that for awhile then when i felt good i repeated the same process. when i got to 2.5 i did the same thing again. then i simply did the same ghing again from 2.5 to 0. if i ever had an "edgy" day i would simply take a higher dose to get me through then get back to the reduction plan from where i left off. i alliwed myself two years to be clear and i did it in 18 months. i still have edgy days but nothing i cant handle and i have tablets available if i really need them.

once clear you should look at medication much like cold flu meds. you take it if and when needed. you dont take cold and flu meds every day of your life to ward off a cold.

hope that helps and good luck. ive been clear for 4 years and done some amazing things since.
