Stopping propranolol 10 mg

Hi there, does anyone have any experience with coming off proranolol 10mg? I take 1 10 mg tablet in the morning for the last 3 months. I would like to come off them. I asked my GP how to stop it and he said that I can stop anytime without reducing the dosage.

I find it a bit strange since there is a warning on the pack to not to stop it just like that but to reduce first. I don't trust my GP 100% cause there were cases before he advised me opposite to what other doctor and the pharmacist said so just wondering if anyone can share their experience. Thanks!

1 x 10mg is a low dose. I have been taking 3 x 10mg propranolol throughout the day which I was also told I could stop at any time without reducing the dosage. I did think that was strange. I guess you could half the tablets if you do feel any withdrawal symptoms.

Hey. Yes, I also find it strange that they say that but I guess everyine is different and maybe there is no withdrawal effects really, but ppl with anxiety look for them anyway like me wink I am taking only 5mg and today is the 5th day. I am feeling fine, I will try to come off it fully over the next few days. It's all in my head wink

Hi, I was prescribed proranolol 10mg today. My doctor has me taking one pill a day, but I hardly ever take medicine so I’m always nervous to start something new, I’ve been seeing a lot about weight gain and hair loss, grant everything I’ve seen were from people who are taking much higher milligrams a day, but it still scares me did you experience any of this?

Is it ok to just stop 60mg a day? 2 tablets 3 times a day. Its for anxiety but im getting alot better and i really dont think the propranalol does much for me...i have always still felt my symptoms as bad as i did when i didnt take it. Ive been taking 2 three times a day for the past few months. Before that it was 1 tab 3 times a day. Just for anxiety. Therapy made me better not these x

    Hi everyone,

My experience is that you CAN just stop taking propranolol at 10mg. I was prescribed it 3 months ago for anxiety and my doctor said to just take it before going into a situation that provokes a panic attack. For me at the time, it was visiting my surgeon at the hospital where I had an operation done. This provoked such anxiety I would get a full blown panic attack. So, about half an hour before entering the hospital I'd take a tablet. And it worked. That was the only time I'd take propranolol, on an 'as needed' basis. I still take a tablet occasionally but not on a regular basis and I've had no issues as a result.

so i recently started taking propranolol 10mg for about a month and i was wondering the same on how what happens of we stop taking the medication. my doctor told me to try it for a month and to make an appointment to follow up with her and i did but, turns out i'm going to be a week late with out taking the medication because she didn't give me a refill and i made the appointment asap but they didn't have a sooner date. now i'm really worried from what i've read on what happens if you stop taking the medication.

Hey how are you now? im on 10 mg only also and im having side effects. Were there any withdrawal symptoms?

You are taking a very low dose so I doubt if there would be any problem. If you aren't sure, just have half a tab a day for a week or two.
