i am in the same boat! ive only been on the medicine since last tuesday. but the heartburn is becoming too much. doctor prescribed zantac 150 but the heartburn keeps me up more at night than anything else. i had beaten anxiety for the most part for a few years and was reluctant to use medication. but i just dont like the way this medicine makes me feel. i have flashes of myself but the majority of the time i feel like a zombie and no energy

I've always been anti medication and worry the side effects are doing more harm than the good of the medication.

I cant see my gp till next wednesday , im currently taking 50mg amd wonder if i should cut down to 25mg for the next week until I see her or just stop as its only been six days.

My advice Sean would be to keep at it when I first started these I felt spaced out, lightheaded, woke up middle of the night and felt on edge, sweated alot but pushed through it. Things syarted subsiding about week 4/5 but I still couldn't shake the spaced out/lightheadeness and ended up having my dossage upped to 100mg NYE and although I am mlre fatigued the lightheaded has pretty much gone altogether...... I am hoping the fatiguedness wilwill go when my body balances itself back out but know it may take a few weeks.

You will be to just stop but before you make any rash decisions why are you stopping after only 6 days?

I was the same anti medication (dont even take paracetamol for headache) but after the dr explained how these work I was alot happier. They literally help the body produce serotonin which the body naturaly makes normally.

After 6 days the tablet isn't even started really they say up to 3/4 weeks for side effects (but may be longer or shorter) and 7/8 weeks for the tablet/dosage to be fully working (but again may be longer or shorter)

I went up to 100mg on New Years Eve after 8 weeks on 50mg and other than a bit of fatigue I think they are helping

      thank you for replying,

I guess like most people I feel I don't need the help of medication and don't want to become dependent on them long term.

The past 3months I have been in a bad place but feel alot better the past couple of weeks since having reassurance from the Dr. or is this the medication making me feel calmer?

I agree completely with that, and I also do not and will not be dependant long term on these and I have told my doctor this.

I know what half my issues/stresses are which are children (I have 3, 1 of which is disruptive possibly on the autistic scale, 1 is a baby and the other is good as gold but over the last 6 months is now starting to fight back.) On top of this I have money worries as in this day and age I guess alot have and since having these issues I have had like chest pains which had me thinking I was having heart attack etc and googling alsorts of isssues.)

Some will turn to drugs, some alcohol, some comfort eat but I turned to the dr who in turn has advised these tablets. I refused for the first month to take them for the same reason as you I am 29 now but was 28 when this started (birthday yesterday) and doctor also tried putting me on Atenlol which is a beta blocker and I refused outright but after having a chat and being reassured about serraline i accepted it.

I really would persevere and you can still do CBT (I have done the assessment and start next Tuesday) just use the sertraline like a crutch if you break a leg.

I am also in a WhatsApp group where there is about 20 of us all in the same boat sufferinng anxiety/depression some of us taking sertraline others using propanol. Just having people in the same boat day or night is reassuring.

Some young, some old, some male, some female. Unfortunately anxiety doesn't care who it hits and when it hits.

If you want to join the group send a messaage and I will get Tania to add you
