Strange coincidence

I have a home in Spain and we hadn't seen our neighbours Jesus and Fortu for over a year as Jesus had been unwell. Their main home is in San Sebastián and our holiday homes are on the Costa Blanca. We were thrilled to find they were there when we arrived a couple of weeks ago. After lots of fumbling in the brain trying to remember our rather rusty Spanish, Jesus starting to describe what illness he was suffering from. It turns out that he also has PMR!!! Him and Fortu, like us, just couldn't believe that we were both suffering from the same problem (and being treated almost identically). It appears that both our symptoms first started last May whilst we were holidaying in the Costa Blanca. I know there are a lot of theories as to how/why PMR is triggered but this does seem to be a huge coincidence. Having imparted this rather boring piece of information I'm off out into the garden to enjoy the 'Costa' type temperatures 8) .

Not boring at all, Lizzie Ellen. Even if it doesn't lead to discovery of the trigger for PMR. Coincidence itself is fascinating. I walked into our garden shop last week carrying my defunct face and ear shield head -gear only to be met by the assistant wearing the very model I needed. That's not earth shattering either, I know but we did all laugh and say that \" you couldn't make it up\"

Not boring at all but quite a bizarre coincidence - with your friend Jesus's experience does this put paid to the theory that the origins of PMR lie in the Vikings landing here?!!!

Research centre in Madrid very interested in PMR and GCA.
Think Castilian!
Enough of that - pseudo gout cleared, but guess what - another truck came along - foot - off to see GP again.
Sometimes I think I am slowly working my way through all the 82 side effects.
Grrrrrrrrr.

Poor you, as if pseudo gout wasn't enough but hope the Doc can sort the foot out now.
As for feeling that you're working your way through all the 82 side effects, I so sympathise with you - my latest one is that the enamel on my teeth keeps breaking down in spite of using special toothpaste so now going through the process of getting my third crown in a year! I can think of better things I'd like to be spending my pension on  !
Do let us know how you get on with that foot and good luck!

It's just occurred to me - I know you eat an amazingly healthy diet so do you include loads of orange and other fruit juices? They have been shown to have a massive effect on tooth enamel even in otherwise healthy young people resulting in them requiring crowns in teens and twenties! And I'm sure your dentist has told you the most important tooth cleaning time is actually in the morning BEFORE breakfast - she says, having not done so! - as this reduces the acid impact on your teeth even further.
Just a thought, and one I shall be bearing in mind...

No, I don't drink any fruit drinks apart from my early morning glass of warm water with a few squirts of fresh lemon juice (good daily detox for the body). Although highly acidic it amazingly turns to alkaline in the body. I even rinse my mouth out with water straight afterwards to help protect my teeth from the acid. No, I wasn't aware that the best time for cleaning teeth is actually BEFORE breakfast and will definitely do this from now on, although, knowing me, I'll probably want to do them after breakfast as well - old habits etc! Thank you so much for that tip, Eileen - perhaps I will have a few teeth left in my head after all, not to mention a few more pounds in my pocket

Just getting the brain back in gear after the GB trip - Lizzie Ellen, how interesting that you and Jesus developed PMR at a similar time because there are theories that autoimmune diseases are often triggered by environmental influences although there are few suggestions I've some across as to what they might be. However... How fascinating!
