Strange dreams

I started on 15mg prednisolone 3 weeks ago when I was diagnosed with pmr. The last few days I've been having strange dreams not bad or good just odd. I know on the leaflet it says that it can cause mental issues but nothing about dreams. Last night I had a dream that I had an alarm system fitted in the house so I didn't need my phone alarm and turned it off. But I did actually turn my alarm off when I was dreaming it was strange I felt like I was both awake and asleep. Needless to say kids were then late for school and childcare. Is this a normal side affect of prednisone?

I don't know whether it's normal, but at the higher doses, I had them too.  Just the worlds oddest dreams about the oddest things and sooo vivid!  They weren't frightening, just bam! Outta nowhere.  And I remembered them afterwards.  Now that I'm at the lower doses (currently at 5 1/2) they have disappeared.  Can't remember when they disappeared, am thinking around 10?  Wishing you sweet dreams....

I THINK I dreamed in the early days of pred - which is unusual for me to remember if you see what I mean! Never switched off an alarm though - that's OH's job, too far away to get at even if I knew how anyway!

I had this too and so vivid but I didn't actually do anything, though they seemed real at the time and I could remember them. They have ceased but I'm on 3mgs now.

Can't remember about the dreams early day actually.  Although I am more aware of dreaming these days at a low dose. Interesting you've had what I think is called a lucid dream and actually acted out the dream.  Don't start sleepwalking!  I solved my alarm clock problem (turning it off before time, or even when it was time and not acting on its suggestion to get up) by having a clock radio in another room.  I hear it clearly but hubby doesn't seem disturbed by it.  Classical music comes on at 6:45, and I have to walk all the way downstairs to turn it off by which time I'm wide awake.

I get that!  I don't think I needed an alarm clock when I had little ones.  They made sure I was up, one way or another!

How old are you Amy? The PMR we talk about here is very unusual in people under 50, it does happen but is really rare. What else has your doctor considered? Is your thyroid function OK - that is a fairly common problem post-partum.

PMR is not the illness - it is the name given to the set of symptoms which are due to an underlying disorder, in our case inflamed blood vessels causing rheumatic symptoms as a result of an autoimmune problem making our immune system unable to recognise our body as "self". But there are a lot of other reasons which need to be ruled out first. Especially in young patients - are you under a rheumatologist?

However - despite the age thing, I'm a bit concerned about the headache you report - tell us more. Do you have any other signs or symptoms?

When I was first on pred 20mg I also dreamt a lot did  not turn anything off, but for a long time I managed to see and hear my mums voice which I found very comforting. I am now  on 7mg, I dont seem to have such vivid dreams anymore.  Happy dreaming.

So glad I'm not on my own thought I was going nuts 😂 when do they lower the does? I thought it was helping and now last couple of days I feel really tiered again with a banging headache. Don't mind having dreams just wish they wasn't so vivid

Yes, I too had, and still have 'amazing' dreams, not good, not bad, just amazing. I felt like I was living a double life (no wonder I am tired (joke))

?I know I still have them, but I don't remember what they are about nowadays. I do have to get up several times a night, and most times I realise I have been dreaming.

When the pain is bad I have dreams that I’m being tortured, Chinese burns in my arms, sticking needled in my feet and hands, pulling my legs....thought it was my brain trying to explain to my body what the ¥$€~ was going on,
