Strange sensation / tightness in chest and upper throat

I'm hoping for some help please..I have been feeling this strange sensation in the chest and lower throat. It's a sensation which I can only describe as a heavy feeling (no pain) and a tickling cough sensation in the chest. This then moves upwards to the lower throat area and makes it as though it is becoming tight. It makes me clear the throat and try to get the mucus out. I can feel a bit coming out but not much. The sensation makes me want to cough.I have been to doctor many times and he has listened to my chest and back. He's said that it's all clear. In the end he gave me antibiotics which I took for 7 days but it made no difference. He's also given me ventolin but it made no difference. I had chest x-ray and that showed clear. He referred me to ENT specialist who did a nasal endoscopy and that was clear. I have also done a barium swallow and that was also clear. However, I am still having this problem. I have also noticed that when I cough, I hear a grinding noise in my chest which sounds like friction. I've now been referred to a respiratory specialist and my appointment is next Friday. I'm really worried as I don't know what it can be. Has anyone else has this strange feeling? Can it be infection of the lower airway which has not cleared up? All this has been going on for 3 months now and I'm really worried and not sure what to do...Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you..

Hi rai27. I also have the same feeling like all of you. I try all the medicine that you try. But one day i started eating pomegranate with empty stomach that whole day i've eaten only pomegranate. It really helps me a lot. The tightness is gone and now my days is normal. Maybe you can try eating that and maybe it will help you also.

Hi melissa. I will pray for you but after watching everyones bloggs I'm certain the anxiety is one of the main problems. even myself when i dont think about it, its not there. My suggestion is to try and find something that relaxes you. Remember One day At A Time. All the best martin

Thank you Martin. I am trying my best at the moment although it is hard. I went to see an ENT and they were a bit concerned about this swelling as well. It's been over 4 months.. I'm praying this is just a coincidence. Sending love to everyone on here.

Hi, As most of the people identified correctly here, it is acid reflux or GERD.I had the exactly same symptoms as of yours and have struggled for 2 years before I got it cured using Yoga. Below are some of my observation about it.
1. Although a normal amount of gas is produced as a result of digestion but when you are under any trauma or anxiety, it creates a powerful cycle within neurological system.
2. Body perceives this anxiety as a threat and increases oxygen inflow that's why you feel shortness of breath because not enough CO2 in system to match.
3. The Stomach energy center is displaced hence disturbs overall digestion system. Now the cure lies within you.Try these
1.For the beginning take Anti GERD medication like Rabbeprazole and Anti anxiety medication for the few days.
2.Pay attention to your breath, observe it every in and out as much as you can. This will work as Anti anxiety mechanism.
3. Do Anulom Vilom, Kapal Bhati and Bhramari Pranayam for atleast 45 minutes each day.
Hope it would help you. Get well soon.
